Hey, I know, picking books is so overwhelming! It took me a while to figure out what to get. I outlined my study plan in my blog (see link below), if you want to check that out. The only change is that instead of Manhattan GMAT I'll be using VeritasPrep, since I was lucky enough to get a full set of...

There are 2 options for the first and last digit, and 10 options for the middle 3, so total combinations=

2 X 10 X 10 X 10 X 2 = 4000

I agree with you up until 4_ _ _3. Then you need to choose the middle 3 numbers out of the remaining 6 digits, so the answer is: 4 X (6C3) X 3 = 12 X 6!/(2!3!) = (12 X 6 X 5 X 4)/2 = 720 Edit: Never mind, I did something wrong, since apparently I included 0 too. But I got the right answer. Can someo...

I haven't actually taken the GMAT, but I'm pretty sure you're in a room with other people testing, so no, you can't talk out loud. Try mouthing the sentences without actually speaking or reading them out loud in your head, if you know what I mean.

Good explanation Brian! So just to make sure, the general rule is: Any factorial plus any of its factors except 1 is not prime. e.g. 20! + 1 MIGHT be prime and is not divisible by any number 2-20, (20! + 2) through (20! + 20) are NOT prime, and 20! + any prime number greater than 20 MIGHT be prime I...

Let's see if I can explain this.... OK, let's call the teams A, B, and C. (1) If one of the members of team A comes in first place, they get (6-1), or 5, points. The only other top 5 place they could come in is 5th, since no team can have more than 6 points. Then if B comes in second, they get 4 poi...

From the problem, we know that (2+11+b+24)/4 > 17, which simplifies to b > 21. (1) From this we know that (41+b+53+61)/4 < 46, which simplifies to b < 29. All we know is that 21 < b < 29. Insuff. (2) b is a prime number greater than 21. Insuff. Putting them together, b is a prime number b/w 21 and 2...

Get the one for the area you need the most work on! And if you're just starting your GMAT prep, I'd recommend doing some general review first so you can figure out which specific book you'd benefit from the most. (That's what I'm doing, I'm starting with Kaplan Premier 2011.) Also, this way you won'...

(1) Since P, Q, R, S are the same distance away from each of the corners of the square ABCD, they form their own square (not shown) PQRS. PR and QS are the diagonals of that square, so they must be equal. Sufficient (2) This doesn't really tell you anything except that each side of the square is 4. ...

First of all, you can figure out that since there are a total of 216 small cubes, the big cube is 6x6x6 small cubes. Also, there are 152 small cubes visible on the outside of the big cube and 64 small cubes hidden inside. If you want minimal color exposure, then all 64 inside cubes should be colored...

I'm new to the GMAT and have only been studying for a week, so I honestly can't say if a 700+ is possible for you. I'm sure the MGMAT will help a lot though. My advice to you, since you had so much time left over, would be to try another CAT exam and take your time. I tend to rush through questions ...

Thanks for the advice Brian! I guess I'm just really excited because I've known I want to go to b-school for so long, and I'm finally going to be one step closer. I should also mention that I'm only a junior in college, so it'll be a while before I actually go, but if I do well enough on the GMAT I'...

Here I go!!!

I started studying for the GMAT this week! I plan to take it at the end of this year, probably in November or December. I'm going to try to take a diagnostic test this weekend so I can figure out what my starting point is. I've outlined my study plan in my blog, which I also started this week! Check...

I wonder how b-schools will compare applicants with different versions of the test. I plan on taking it within the next year, but I graduate from college in 2012 so by the time I apply I'll be up against a lot of people who will have taken the new GMAT. Any ideas on how they'll deal with this?
