Congrats! I got the same score but a different split.
Do the MBA. A 710 cold = 760+ with study. Also, you want to do marketing so your quant does not need to be super strong, so go for an MBA it has a stronger credential effect than an MS.
Good luck!

660 to 710 [92% (Q44, V42)] mixed feelings...mostly happy!
So I took the GMAT today and got a 710. First I felt relief: I crossed 700! Then I I felt joy: I was in the 92%ile. Then I felt a little dissapointment with the splits coz I was hoping for a quant 47 and a verbal 45. But all in all, I'll take my 710 (a jump of 50 points!) and barring an exponential ...

Thanks for all the congrats! My top school choices are Duke and the University of Virginia. They're top 12th and 15th in the US but not quite Harvard or Wharton. I do have A's in statistics 1 & 2, business calculus, and all of my finance and accounting courses. Do you think that will make up fo...

Congratulations! If you have intentions of studying finance at a top b-school (H/W/S), then my guess is that a 42 in quant is not going to cut it UNLESS you have a bunch of high-level quant courses with excellent grades i.e. A's in multivariate calculus, linear algebra etc. So while re-taking with a...

I can understand if someone is dissapointed with a 730 if thier breakdown was 46Q /51V and they need a 48 in quant.

With the 9 or so months you have you can really do well on this exam. The GMAT is a "bottom up" exam i.e. you gotta pass the easy stuff before you pass the intermediate stuff before you pass the hard stuff. Basically, you have to be fundamentally sound. You shouldn't focus on tough questio...

I think you are fine. Maybe verbal could have been a 37 but I think 710 is more than enough to get you looked at for MIT etc. And getting looked at is the least you can ask for. The only problem is that your demographic (Indian + engineering + IT) might work against you coz that demographic usually ...

As DanaJ said, Verbal is scored VERY differently from Quant so you can't compare scaled scores from Q to V. I don't really know exactly how the algorithm scores incorrect answers for each section but I do know that if you are scoring in the 40s in Verbal the scoring is harsh -- even 1 incorrect answ...

If your TOEFL scores are strong then you might be able to get away with a 33.
If you were scoring consistently higher than 33 and if you think you can score a 36/37 then you might want to retake but bearing in mind that you could score lower in V.

I'd say there is no value in retaking and getting a 51 in quant after scoring a 49 except to make youself feel better. If it were a 47... maybe. But dissatisfaction with a 49 to the point of a retake will look like you don't know how to effectively use your considerable resources. Or that you are to...

If you want a true indicator of where you are do GMAT Prep from mba.com and nothing else. Kaplan undersetimates your score. Manhattan is sometimes above, sometimes below. The only true barometer is GMAT Prep 1 and GMAT Prep 2. If you are scoring 720 then chances are you will get >700. If not, then y...

I'd go with GMATBootcamp. If you are a nuclear physicist with Nasa, then even a 29 in quant prolly would not matter. So 43Q may or may not be acceptable depending on your quant background. If it is like mine i.e. zero, nada, zip... then 43 is not going to cut for a top school. If you are worried abo...

Do NOT retake. you are above 80%ile in verbal so it will look very bad to adcoms EVEN if you improve your verbal score dramatically. Enjoy your success and work on apps.
