The math MGMAT, Princeton Review, and Kaplan would have you prep for is frankly, just overkill. GMAT math problems are tricky, but they aren't "difficult." Test Prep math problems are flat out hard.

Actually, when you say "Miserable 680"...miserable is an adjective modifying 680, which describes what kind of 680 you scored. Its like if you said, I scored a lucky 30 points last night in the basketball game. You could also say I scored a lucky 10 points in the game last night. Neither s...

A word of caution...I think you are possibly being to sensitive on this topic. Granted, people should be a bit more aware of other people's expectations on this test, and do their best to not unintentionally insult others while discussing their scores. That being said, there are two reasons people s...

I'm not sure if this helps, but here is my take. When I first started studying for the GMAT, I took 4 paper tests (like the old ETS Tests you can find online). My Scores were 740, 730, 750, 730. I got a Q50 each time, and ranged between V40-V44. Obviously the paper tests are pretty different from th...

I think they are decent tests for practice, but I wouldn't read too much into the score. I got a 690 and a 700 on my first two MGMAT tests, and i got a 750 on my first GMAT Prep test. I have no idea what my real test score will be, but I'm guessing it will be closer to 750 than 700.

It would seem that the only reason someone would criticize you for retaking a 720, is if you scored in the 700-730 range the second time. For example, if I was scoring 750s on my practice tests, and i got a 720 on the real thing. I'm almost definitely retaking the test. Also, if I got a 720, and the...

Question about GMAT Prep subscores
I just took my first GMAT Prep and I got a 750. I think the subscores were Q49 and V42. I didnt think much of it then and I closed GMAT prep, but now that I think about it, that seems a bit low for a 750. Its possible that I got a V44, which would make more sense. Is there a concrete conversion scal...

Re: Primes/Exponents: If x, y, and z are integers greater th
If x, y, and z are integers greater than 1, and (3^27)(35^10)(z) = (5^8 )(7^10)(9^14)(x^y), then what is the value of x? (1) z is prime (2) x is prime So the actual question that i got on Manhattan GMAT said that y was prime for statement (1), instead of z being prime. But it doesnt change a whole ...

It probably depends on your scoring range, and what your goals are. I think you definitely want to like at OG11 and work all the questions. It should be good enough to get you to a 700 level in math. If your more ambitious, and have the time, go through the Manhattan GMAT books. Focus on the parts t...

If you graduated from college in 2006, you might be too young for most programs. I see a lot of kids with 750 GMAT's get dinged by programs, albeit these are top programs or at least top 20 like Haas. And the only reason I can come up with is that they are 27 years old or younger. With a 2.6 GPA, y...

So I think your best bet is to not even worry about the tests right now. What you want to do is focus on building a solid foundation for answering questions. If your at the 500 level, there are currently too many questions that you don't know how to do and thats what you need to fix. For example, Se...

What can you learn from the OG?
I've kind of touched on this in one of my earlier posts, but now that I've gone through all of the verbal section of OG 11, I was looking for some input on how to study from this point on. I got 88% of the Sentence Correction correct, 96% of Critical Reasoning, and 93% of Reading Comp. I typically w...

It seems like you have a lot of work ahead of you. I don't think I would even take the test again unless I felt comfortable I'd be in the 650+ range. Personally, I think you want to start with doing a lot of hardcore preparation on both fronts. I recommend the Manhattan GMAT class as probably workin...

I've never had any issues with OG Critical Reasoning questions, but when I do MGMAT or Princeton Review questions, they just dont feel right. Sometimes the questions seems to be "getting at something", but the question itself isnt that clear. Your best bet might be to work out of the OG an...

Strike Rates on OG 11
Have some of you guys that have taken the GMAT already kept track of your strike rates on the practice questions in OG 11, particularly the Verbal section?
I was wondering how your performance on the official guide questions correlated to your final GMAT score.
