How to schools verify salary data?

First, do all schools or do the majority require verification of salary data? Do they simply ask for verbal confirmation with your HR department or do they require W2s or other tax filings/ bank statements. I have come across this information from Re Vera and would like to know if I need to start lo...

Wow, that's interesting. I hope one of the experts can give you more insight, but if it were me I don't think I would list any other schools. I seriously doubt they would penalize you for not listing any other schools, and if you feel uncomfortable giving them this information you shouldn't have to....

Dude, just remember the most important thing is what you say, not necessarily what you choose to talk about. The topics are very broad to allow you flexibility in your response. This doesnt mean when they ask "something" it has to be "one thing" or that something you did well can...

Congratulations. Perhaps you can provide a little more info on what industry and career you are looking to enter post grad. I graduated from Marshall Undergrad and am knowledgeable on their MBA program. UC Irvine is a fantastic school and I think has very valuable of a program, however USC treats it...

I have little experience in your issue, but I think you are doing the right thing in including a citation for your data. Because of word limitations, maybe it would be okay to just use parentheses for the source. I don't think the ad com will penalize technicalities, but I don't know. 70% of 8th gra...

I think you can express that the change was planned. You wanted to leave your company in order to dedicate your time to pursuing an MBA. It would obviously be very difficult to run a business and take classes full-time. The gap between starting the MBA program and ending your business, however, migh...

Stanford says only certain courses count toward GPA?

I thought this was interesting on the Stanford Application: Please report your undergraduate grade point average (GPA) and the scale used by your institution. Only courses for credit toward your first bachelor's degree count in your GPA. Report/calculate your GPA, to the best of your ability, even i...

I agree with you Jon. Unfortunately, I don't see any alternatives for me. Perhaps the following from wikipedia will help to guide others in the same situation: An award is something given to a person or a group of people to recognize their excellence in a certain field; a certificate of excellence. ...

It still feels like a waste of time for the ad com to read the same thing 3 times: on the resume, on the essay, and on the application information sections. If they want to condense application size, this seems like an obvious issue to start with. I'm starting to get the idea that is works this way;...

What qualifies as an award/distinction/honor?

Obviously being knighted by the Queen of Sweeden, a military commendation, or workplace awards are great examples, but how does the ad com view others that aren't quite so obvious? Specifically I am hoping to use certifications, which required experience and passing an exam, and a voting membership,...

I too am seeking advice on this. If you've already noticed, they ask for 3 extracurriculars and 3 awards in order of importance to you . This might be the best advice in terms of what examples to use. Regarding "how official" your items should be, I would suggest using those with the bigge...

Thanks for your response. At least for the schools that use the "ApplyYourself" software (almost all the top schools) there is required space to provide your professional accomplishments: nature of business responsibilities greatest challenge greatest accomplishment (each section in 200 ch...

Resume as source of new info or reinforcement?

These online applications already ask all the content that would appear on an average resume: academic history employment history extra curricular awards and recognition Obviously your most important examples should be stated in the application sections, but does that mean they don't need to be repe...

Can a school look at your tax returns?

Most applications ask for salary and revenue. How are they able to confirm these values? I know they confirm employment history, but does this mean they just speak with a company HR rep? In a background check, can they find access to your personal income tax returns and business returns for business...
