My bad, there's a typo in my post. 2 - 1/2 = 3/2! I corrected my previous post.

IMO answer is
(B)
y² = 2 -> y = sqrt(2)

a² + b² = c²
(sqrt(2)/2)² + b² = sqrt(2)²
(2/4) + b² = 2
(1/2) + b² = 2
b² = 2 - (1/2)
b² = 3/2
b = sqrt(3)/sqrt(2)

Area = a * b * 1/2
(sqrt(2)/2) * sqrt(3)/sqrt(2) * 1/2
sqrt(3)/4

Awww... took me a lot of time but got it at last... it's
(A)
sqrt(x)/2 = 2x
sqrt(x) = 4x
x = 16x²
16x² - x + 0 = 0 -> z² = 16x² -> z = 4x -> x = z/4
z² - (1/4)z + 0 = 0
(z - 1/4)(z + 0) = 0
z = 1/4 OR z = 0

z² = (1/4)² = 16x²
1/16 = 16x²
1/16² = x²
1/16 = x

Prime Factors 3 -> 3 4 -> 2,2 7 -> 7 LCM = 2x2x3x7 = 84 3x/84 = 4y/84 = 7z/84 x/28 = y/21 = z/12 If we make x, y and z equal to 1: x = 28; y = 21; z = 12 and (x + y + z) = 28 + 21 + 12 = 61 That's how I got
D?
Can someone walk me through this one. thanks If x, y, and z are posit...

Yup IMO (B) too

(1/5x)/(1/6y)?

5x = 6y
x/y = 6/5

(1/5)6/(1/6)5
(6/5)/(5/6)
36/25

PS: I sent you a PM!!! We can simplify expresions like this if we multiply the numerator and denominator by the same root (in this case sqrt(3)). The value won't be changed because its the same as multiplying by 1. It's just to change the "format" of the fraction to make it simplier to rea...

Edit: NVM found -1 < x < 0 is valid for statement 1 Guys I'm getting (A)... what am I missing? If x is not equal to 0, is |x| < 1? (1) x/|x| < x Multiplying by |x| on both sides won't change sign and we get x < x|x| For this to be possibe x > 1, thus x = GT(1) |GT(1)| < 1 ? Answer is no. Sufficient ...

15. If (s^4)(v³)(x^7) < 0, is svx < 0? One of s,v,x is negative an the others positive? Are s,v,x all positive? (s^4)(v³)(x^7) < 0 (s^4)(v³)(x^7) < 0 (+) (?) (?) < 0 From this we know that s could be positive or negative and the result will always be positive, and that one of the other parenthesi...

This isn't a GMAT question. Both statements contradict each other. Either way, the answer should be E because the first statement n = 2,3,4 and in the second statement n = 11,12,13..., 23 Make sure you have written the question correctly, and if you actually did, then just skip this question. If n i...

Here you can't use "x+y = 5?" and one of the other equations to solve because "x+y = 5?" is a question not a statement. When you have two unknowns you can determine through two quad. equations. If you use the orig with any of the two individually you can find values for the indiv...
