Well, if set S has the even number of terms then the median would be = (sum of 2 middle terms)/2. We must find then if the absolute value of the left one is greater than the abs of right middle number. Only then we can get a negative median. 1) Absolutely insufficient... it still can be (-1 and 10),...

You should always look at the graph in abstract. They are all were drawn NOT INTO A SCALE. All you must see is the information that is GIVEN. In the question stem it is the base. In stmt 1) it is the length of the right side. This could only lead you to the conclusion that given triangle is iscosele...

I think it is progress that decimated native peoples, not the devastion and enslavement... If d & e dicemated people, it would sound on the same way as "iron iron or curvy curvs", it s imo, i marked A.

Hey there, knowing the angle ABD is 60, doesn't mean that the triangle is iscoseles or equilateral. It just means that 1 angle is 60, others can be anything that sum up to 180. SO, it is insufficient, because we can't figure out the what is DB. A vertice may be even to the left of the C. + stmt one,...

x^2+y^2=4, x+y=4. I think you know the pattern of the first equation. It is cercle with the center at (0;0), and radius 4. The second one is the line, y=4-x, if y=0, then x=4, and if x=0, then y=4. Then we have 2 intersect points, hence the answer would be indeed 2. Well, i tried to solve this one a...

if (0;2) is the left point of diagonal, and (6;2) the right one. Then the length of one diagonal is 6, right? The area of the square then would be 1/2*6*6=18. then, the length of each side of a square is sqrt(18) or 3sqrt(2). because the one diagonal is horisontal, the other one must be vertical in ...

Hey Rapgust ! Could you please post a whole problem.
Well, you could solve this one using quadratic formula. But i don't think answers this big would be present on GMAT.
(-155^2-4*9*500)=D. then x1,2=(-b+-sqrt(D))/2a.
May be question asked to find a sum of 2 roots of the equation ? `

Well, still we can answer this question.
-89 is negative, hence the number^3=-89 must be negative too.
(-3)^3=-27
(-4)^3=-64
(-5)^3=-125,
Hence the cube root of (-89) must be in (-4;-5), the only segment that must include this number is A: (-9;10)

Hey Ssuarezo
Look at the question stem, it says "annual interest rate" compounded quarterly. So, if there are 4 quarters in a year, it must be that the rate per a quarter might be found through division of annual interest rate by 4.

Hey there!
You can notice a modifier mistake in B.
"Beethoven's status is considered ..." but the sentence meant that Beethoven is considered.... That is why it is wrong.
Hope it helped.

i ll try to do it :) you know that every line might be expressed as y=kx+b, where k is a slope. Consider b=0 first. we have an equation y=kx ( y=-1/10x, in particular) Literally, slope tells us the distance in the y-axis per x, but affected by the slope. Our equation tells us that, if x=1, y will tr...

Ok. You have 2 similar triangles in this problem. s is the base of small triangle, S is that of a big one. So sides and height of a big triangle may be expressed as k*s=S and k*h=H, where s is a base, and h - is a height. (NB: k is a coefficient, literally - a ratio of S and s) the area of small tri...

Hey uptowngirl! Look at the part 2+2. It is 4, right ? or 2^2. Hence, we can factor 2^2 from two first figures. i mean [2^2+2^2]+2^3...=2^2(1+1)+2^3.....=2*2^2+2^3...=2^3+2^3+2^4... Notice since that moment factoring 2^n will result in increasing of the next number's power by 1 at a time. 4 5 6 7 8 ...
