Re: Exponents

Can someone please explain this for me 5^21 * 2^22 = 2 * (5^21 * 2^21) and if you can kindly point me to a good tutorial for exponents thanks remember raising a number to a power is just a multiplication. Multiplication operations can be ordered any way and still achieve the same result. 2*3*5 = 3*...

Re: OG DS - absolute value questn

If x and y are integers and y = |x+3|+|4-x| , does y equal 7 ? 1) x < 4 2) x > -3 Also , please explain a little how to solve these types of questions I am not able to do well in absolute value questions :/ 1) x must be less than 4 so x = 0 works x = 1 works x = 2 works x = 3 works but lets try - 1...

Re: camping

Similar to Vemuri I just factored a bit differently

xy = (x-x/2)(y+7)
xy = xy+7x-[xy/2]-[7x/2]
xy = [xy/2]+[7x/2]
2xy = xy+7x
xy = 7x
y = 7

given x+y != 0 the expression is a(x+y)/(x+y) hence knowing value of a will suffice. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS factor out whatever information is given in the question stem. [If its x^2+4x+4 make it (x+2)^2 if its (x-3)(x-3) make it x^2-6x+9] That being said look at this.... (ax+ay)/x+y => a(x+y)/(x+y...

I initially wanted to solve this problem algebraically, but I soon realized it wouldn't take me far. So I started plugging in numbers... Now, let's analyze each stmt: 1. provides no new info: it's obvious that, since the remainder of dividing n to 3 is 2, n - 2 will be divisible by 3. This means th...

(A) 30
(B) 45
(C) 60
(D) 72
(E) 90
SA = 2(10*3) + 2(10*x) + 2(3*x)
112 = 60 + 20x + 6x
52 = 26x
x = 2

Volume = 10 * 3 * 2
Volume = 60 C.
