Yes!! These questions have a fairly decent chance of appearing on the GMAT.
Infact i came across 2 SD questions on the gmat both on similar lines as the above question!!
I even remember the questions but revealing them would be against the gmac non-disclosure agreement !!

It is so ironical that i spent the major chunk of my study time on verbal and would do quant only intermittently. But the result is so disproportionate !! sigh! I will definitely try out the tips suggested by you. I agree completely with you when you say that the RC passages in GMAT are very well wr...

hey DanaJ thanks for that prompt response! And as you guessed it, i am a non-native speaker.. The books are excellent from content and concept building point of view.. But the SC guide does not contain any questions, and the powerscore CR contains only a handful of them..

are the 1000 SC and 1000 RC series any good?
Can somebody confirm whether the 1000 RC and SC series reflect gmat-styled questions?
I have exhausted the material in all OGs, Kaplan 800,Kaplan Premier , Princeton etc and hence looking for a good source of questions for the verbal session.

sadly idioms do not follow any set rules.. they are the way they are...
Is there any reason as to why 'i prefer his advice' is correct and 'i prefer to his advice' wrong ?
To get a grasp of idioms , make a note of any new one you come across and revise it regularly!!
