If you allow a second Alex to weigh in, I think that so many Indian engineering applicants struggle to get that more commercial position, and here you have that opportunity. It will indeed make you more attractive to US schools. I would take that job and wait to apply to some top 15 US programs give...

Mondy, So far so good. Your GMAT and undergrad record are solid, you are working on meaningful extra curriculars and helping the family business, and you are working at a world class firm. Try your best to keep moving to the business side of GM to the extent possible. Even if that takes 1-2 more yea...

First of all, a 3.3 gpa is far from a disaster, and I've had Harvard undergrad clients get into HBS and Wharton with that gpa. Stanford might be tougher. And perhaps there was a positive trend in your gpa as you finished your undergraduate? But second, don't be so afraid of the GMAT as that will onl...

I would say don't take it again just for the AWA. Your verbal score on the gmat and your essays will help, and I may even address it in the optional essay to play some offense versus leaving it up to adcoms to make their own judgment. Looks like your writing is very good! But for everybody else read...

A nonprofit leader can definitely work as he or she has an organization to lead and mold. A human rights leader may be a bit more of a stretch if he or she is a bit more of an individual contributor. The key is discussing the specific practices that or she has utilized to move the needle, grow the o...

It is not at all a waste of space. A one to two line company description with great details helps situate the reader. And conversely, not including one can be annoying to an evaluator. I recommend to all my clients that they add lines like this: A REIT specializing in the acquisition, asset manageme...

I don't think this requires an extended answer. MIT and Haas are top programs, and HBS and Stanford are not high probability for you.

And go be an an entrepreneur. After selling a few companies, you can be recruited by some HBS/Stanford folks running a vc/pe firm:)

MQ Based on my years watching this admissions process unfold, I believe that all things being equal, it is harder today to surmount a low gpa at a top school vs 5 years ago. In addition, I feel strongly that your slate of schools was too heavily focused on the very top schools. I would have looked a...

A 3.15 gpa is low but is far from a disaster. You can still apply to solid programs and yes taking some courses is a smart idea. I do recommend to my clients that they try to take at least one physical vs virtual class and secure an A- or better. Taking courses shows initiative and interest. And tak...

Syrios, So as not to restate what others have posted, let me share an observation from watching my private clients year after year. I have seen that when folks are on the borderline with their gmat or have the quant lower than what feels comfortable, in the majority of cases there is an improvement ...

Leave it blank as it is not required, unless the wording of the prompt makes the omission an issue. This is likely not the case.

Taking those classes can certainly help prove that you are a more serious student now. But I would say your first objective is to improve your GMAT. I had two clients this past season with 2.4-2.7 gpas from top 20 national universities and they scored over 730 (one got a 770) and both got into a sol...

June would put you ahead of the curve, as some schools will not even have released their essay prompts by then. But starting the process that early will allow you to get through at least 4-5 applications for R1 if you can afford the time it takes to do a bang up job.

Good Luck!

I have had strong success helping clients with INSEAD despite being an HBS grad:)

I would be happy to guide folks through that application this season as well.

Yes, I would try to communicate something that material even after the formal application date. Can't hurt and may really help. That said, for others reading this with potential info to share, make sure it is really worth the adcom contact. Getting a new project probably won't move the needle, nor w...
