If a and b are positive integers such that a ? b and a/b are both even integers, which of the following must be an odd integer? a-b is even so both a& b are either odd or even a/b is even, possible only if both are even(considering the above case also into account) so we can say that both a &...

450y =n^3 so we need a value of y which will make the expr 450y a perfect cube 450 = 3^2 * 5^2 *2 i.e none of the peime factors have the power of 3 so y must provide this i.e y should have a 3,5,& two 2's to have powers of 3 of all the prime factors in 450y in general y should be of the form 3^n...

If x > 0, is x > y ? 1) 7x - 4y = 3 i.e 7x > 4y or x > 4/7*y so in this case x>y is possible, but it is also possibe that x is less than y e.g x =0.8 *y 2) 4x - 7y = 3 i.e 4x > 7y or x > 7/4*y i.e x > 7/4*y > y i.e x >y SUFF B Hi Eric/Gabriel, Is there a problem with inequality signs, whenever I put...

IMO 10 2 blue 2 red 1 yellow 1 pink coz each of the 2 blue colour flowers & 2 red will make the same colour combination so basically we will have 2 possiblities 1) all 3 flowers are of diff colours i.e. 4C3 = 4ways 2) 2 flowers of the same colour & third of a diff colour i.e 3 for blue &...

Is x negative? 1. x^3(1-x^2) < 0 i.e x^3 -x^5 < 0 or x^3 < x^5 here x can be +ve like 2 & x can be -ve like -.2 INSUFF 2. x^2 - 1 < 0 or x^2 <1 i.e x <1> -1 again both -ve & +ve values are possible INSUFF Combine x^3 < x^5 & x <1> -1 so x can be -1<x<0 to satisfy both the conditions henc...

Hi GMATDUD, I would solve for stmt 2 like this if y>=0, what is the value of x? B) lx-3l <y>=0 so -y will be 0 or -ve now |x-3| is an absolute value so it will be always +ve so in the given inequality the only real world case that will arise will be when y=0 as for other values of y -y will be -ve w...

IMO a good approach is to extract the common part in both the exponents & then work with the problem, In fact this step will itself present the soln

i.e 2^100 - 2^96?

2^96 ( 2^4- 1)

=2^96(15)

=2^96 (5*3)

ans 5 C
