If you are subtracting a very small number from a comparatively bigger number then the resulting number is very near to the bigger number.

So your question would effectively convert into 10^8/10^7 equals to what??

and the answer to that is simple 10

speed = distance/time Upstream: v-3 = 90/t+0.5 Downstream: v+3 = 90/t Now use backsolving strategy, and the easiest would be to choose 2.5 Upstream v-3 = 90/3 or v-3 = 30, hence time = 3hrs Downstream v + 3 = 90/2.5 or v+3 = 36, hence time = 2.5 hrs Difference between upstream and downstream = 30 mi...

2nd Question

Lets assume O is the centre of the circle

angle ABC = 60
therefore angle AOC = 120
Degree measure of arc ABC = 360-120 - 240

length of arc ABC = 2*pi*r * (degree measure of the arc ABC/360)
24 = 2*pi*r * (240/360)

2*r = 36/3.14
2*r < 12 but > 9

---------- -5 ----------------- x -------------- 3 -----------------

The question is asking which inequality expresses the region

-5<= x <= 3

|x+1| <= 4
x+1 <= 4 and -x-1 <= 4
x<=3 and x >= -5
-5<= x <= 3

Lets assume number of histoy major = x
therefore, English major would be 2x

Math Major = 1/3rd of english major = 2x/3

history major: Math major = x/(2x/3) = x * (3/2x)
= 3:2

if you substitude x = 587 and -587 in all the 3 expressions you will find only II will give you the same value, since when x is squared - it really doesn't matter whether x is negative or positive - the result will always be postive.

Re: Sign knowledge

As I can gather the question is asking for the degree measure of angle CAT STMT I 1. AB ^ AT and AC ^ AD ( assuming ^ = perpendicular) angle CAD = 90 and angle BAT = 90 Insuff 2. AB bisects ÐCAD Insuff , as we do not know the degree measure of angle CAD STM I & II, CAB = 45, BAD = 45 BAT = 90 BA...

shouldn't the question say non-zero non-integers

Stmt I gives us x = y = 3/4, and hence the value of the expression 2
Stmt II says x = y, hence value of the expression = 2

I am getting 11 but I don't know if my method is correct Slope of the line PQ = -3/5 or -0.6 so for every 0.6 increase in y-axis, x-axis decreases by 1 so the integer values for y-axis would be an interval of 3 (3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27,30) So the points would be (3,45) (6,40) (9,35) (12,30) (15,25) ...

Area of equilateral triangle = t * (√3/4) t
Area of square = s*s

since the area of triangle and square is equal

s*s = t * (√3/4) t

t/s = 2/ (3)^1/4
