b'cos it is not relevant. It has nothing to do with author's hypotheses that the vaccine was the source.

from 1:
we know
x<y<=10
x can be <6 or =6 or >6
Not Sufficient

from 2:
x + y + z = 18
If x takes any value >=6 then y+z<=12 So either y or z will become less than or equal to x. that can't be since x<y<z
so, x<6

answer B

November Rain wrote: The only way the median is equal to the mean is if the set contains evenly spaced numbers.
If the set is evenly spaced, mean=median

But the reverse is not necessarily true. Example of this is in one of the explanations above. (-4,2,4,8,10) mean=median=4 but the set is not evenly spaced.

y= ax^2+bx+c passes through the point (1,2)

therefore,
2=a+b+c

we have to determine if
Is 2= a-b+c?

from 2:
b=0
Sufficient

from 1:
for all values, f(x)=f(-x)
ax^2+bx+c = ax^2-bx+c
b=-b
therefore b=0
Sufficient

IMO answer D

x and y are integers. from 1: |x| = |y+1| x=3, y=2, |x| > |y| x=-3, y=-4, |x| < |y| Not Sufficient from 2: x^y = x! + |y| from RHS: factorial is defined only for 0 and positive integers, therefore x>=0. absolute value is always >0 and least value of a factorial =0! =1 therefore RHS >=1 therefore LHS...

New explanation for the correct question stem: In 1 hour, min 20 gifts and max 30 gifts can be wrapped by one clerk. To find if all presents of the 70 people would be wrapped we need to find the total number of presents and total number of clerks. ABCDE from 1: each person has at least 1.... so numb...

If 70 people are standing in line, will all of their presents be wrapped after 1 hour. 1. Each person in line has at least 1 present to be wrap...

what is the source of this question? I think there are several typos in this question stem: 8. Professor Panovich argues that, since dinosaur hearts had multiple chambers like those in modern mammals those dinosaurs, like mammals, were warm blooded. But some modern reptiles also have multiple chambe...

Ok here's an analogy to make things simpler...hopefully!! David answers a question today. 50 years ago, David read a book that had the answer. The quiz master hypothesizes that reading that book helped David answer the question today. Now, if we have to strengthen this hypothesis and 2 options are: ...

I eliminated "C" because we already knew that the vaccine was contaminated. This answer choice does not give us any new information. Yes, we know vaccine was contaminated. But whether it could have an effect 40-50 years down the line is not known. So, knowing that those vaccine still have...

GMAT Prep CR: Although exposure to asbestos

Although exposure to asbestos is the primary cause for mesothelioma, a slow-developing cancer, researchers believe that infection by the SV40 virus is a contributing case, since in the US 60 percent of tissue samples from mesotheliomas, but none from healthy tissue, contain SV40. SV40 is a monkey vi...
