It sounds like you're annoyed and want to let them know, but what purpose would it serve? Just send a letter asking them to remove you from the waitlist. Any more than that would be overkill.

You're absolutely right. Top schools consider a score balanced when the percentiles are more in line. The rule of thumb is both scores should be at or above 80th percentile (Q48 and V36). Does running contribute to your personal AND professional development? If so, then you can choose either. The point is to explain your activity in a way that is compelling both personally and professionally. Running wouldn't count in that way for me, but it might be a metaphor for your stamina, etc.

This sounds like a ploy to get you to love their school more or to figure out if their career management office is equipped to handle a candidate like you. Either way, I think it's a good sign. It's an investment of resources and that means they like you.
