Answer is D.
Plug in the numbers
Let total number of newspapers sold=100 no. of A=60 no. of B=40 so p=60
Then Revenue from each A=60*1=60$ and B=40*1.25=50
So r= (60/110)*100=600/11
now Plug in p=60
400*60/(500-60)=400*60/440=(600/11)=r
hence D.

My answer is A
1. As the line doesn't intersect the line the line is parallel to l, so the slopes will be same
Statement 1 alone sufficient
2. As line intersect l, the line is not parallel. We can not derive slope of line l.
