I think we should define what we mean by "best". I think if you mean which test will give you a good idea of what score you will get, then in my view it is MGMAT. However, if by "best" you mean which test has questions which are comparable to the actual GMAT, then I would say Kap...

For those of you living in cities or countries where MGMAT does not operate, perhaps you can try Veritas Prep. A friend of mine did the course in Sydney and found it very good.

I am really starting to think that any benefit over 700 or even 680 is marginal. This is from seeing the results of my mates who have submitted their apps and have either been accepted or rejected. This forum is great in some ways, but if this is all you read, I think you start to put too much empha...

Some Suggestions

Hi Eric, first off I think this site is great - kudos for putting it together. I'd like to make three suggestions: Book Review Forum - Can we have a book review forum, so that people can post their thoughts on the same book in the one thread? One frustration I had early on was having to search sever...

I'd say definitely forget about taking it again. Any score above 700 (or even 680) will put in the the right league for those schools. I believe the real turning point is the 90th percentile mark. There are diminishing returns after 700. So long as you are above the 80th percentile in each section, ...

Don't Stress on the GMAT, 640 is enough for Stanford!

Just found out a friend of mine was accepted at Stanford with a 640 GMAT. He was on the wait-list for a while but has now been accepted. He was also accepted first round into LBS. His background is not extraordinary - worked for six years at a top 100 company (mining sector) in Australia, progressio...

BTW, I don't mean to put anyone off MGMAT products. I actually have their sentence correction book, and I believe it is the BEST book on SC out there. I've also heard that their book on number theory is good too. However, I don't think their CATS are very good, and that one may be better off doing t...

Hi, I really think you should do it again. It is my firm view that the GMAT is a flawed test and its scoring algorithm results in a high standard error. Maybe you made three or four careless mistakes in verbal - I believe this has the potential to reduce your score by quite a huge amount. I myself i...

Hey AGJames, My MGMAT CAT scores were 710, 730, 720, 740, and 730. My quant score was always either 48 or 49, and my verbal score ranged from 40-45. I believe that the MGMAT CATs (especially the quant section) are harder and longer than the real GMAT, and so your MGMAT CAT score is probably around 3...

Second Attempt - 770 from 670

Guys, This post is long overdue, but I just want to give everyone on this board my experience as a second-time test taker on the GMAT. As per below, my first attempt with the GMAT netted me 670 which was way below my scores on the practice tests (I was scoring 740-760 on GMATPrep and Manhattan GMAT)...

Some reflections on GMAT algorithm - what do you guys think

OK, a friend and I have been trying to figure out how this GMAT scoring system works by playing around with GMATPrep many many times. Here are some thoughts so far (all based on the quant section only): 1. Have you ever noticed that sometimes GMAT throws you a ridiculously easy question? Eg. on one ...

Hey dude,

Sorry to hear about your shock result. No harm trying again I think. I'm in exactly the same position. I've sent you a PM, look forward to hearing from you.

Guys, I just want to add my two cents to this. I sat for the GMAT yesterday and scored a 670. This is way below my scores in the GMATPrep (750 and 770) and MGMAT CATS (started at 680, then consistently 720-750). In my quant practice CATS, I would typically get between 8-12 questions wrong, but still...

670 (Q44, V38) - Very Depressed

Guys, Just came out of the GMAT with a 670. Am very disappointed, as I had been scoring around 730 to 750 on the MGMAT CATS and GMATPrep. Still kinda shell-shocked actually. I thought I did quite well in the math part (I usually score 48-50, even on MGMAT) but for some reason it looks like I really ...

United Shipping

Because of rising costs, United Shipping Company raised its rates by ten percent last year. Many of its customers balked at the increase, however, and turned to a rival company whose rates were lower. In response, United Shipping Company began offering a package of services for a single rate that, t...
