are these correct or is it I am right in my logic to assume that any number positive or negative, when raised to the power of 0 is 1

PC its always 1.

-2^0 = 1

Statement I (sqrtlxl)^2 = x if x = -1 lxl = 1 (sqrt 1)^2 = 1 but this is not equal to x, which is -1 Hence only way this could be possible when x = positive. Sufficient Statement II x^0 = 1 irrespective of any value of x, any value when raised to the power of 0 will always result in 1, Therefore x c...

Re: Equation with roots

Which of the following is a root of the equation sqrt(4x) = sqrt(x^2 - 21) ? A) -3 B) -1 C) 3 D) 5 E) 7 sqrt(4x) = sqrt(x^2 - 21) 4x = x^2 -21 x^2 -4x -21 = 0 x =7 or -3 I think the answer should be 7 because if we take -3 then the equation becomes undefined. Hence E. Kindly correct me if I am wrong.

Re: What is the probability of picking at least one white ba

If two balls are to be choosen from 3 red balls and 2 white balls, what is the probability of picking at least one white ball? at least 1 white = probability of picking 1 white + probability of picking 2 white Probability of picking 1 white 2C1 * 3C1 / 5C2 = 6/10 Probability of picking 2 white 2C2 ...

Man, what a bad day for me. I think this might be my last post, since I have now posted 2 questions with missing/incorrect information. The question needs the proviso, "x and y" are not multiples of 10. If we add that proviso, the correct answer is C (5). Yikes - pretty sloppy stuff. Sorr...

This one is quite evil. The sums of the 4 rows are given, so if we add all 4 of those sums (3+6+9+0=18) we will get the sum of all 16 numbers in the grid. If we add the 4 column sums, we better get the same sum since we are adding the same 16 numbers. So, we can conclude that (-2)+7+n+5 = 18 Solve ...

IMO C

We already have "although" in non underlined part to show the contrast, therefore we dont need "while" to show contrast again.

Eliminate - D & E

option A - that there would be a resurgence - awkward + wordy

Option B - "it" has no antecedent.

Hence C.

Re: xy = 10^n

x and y are positive integers such that xy = 10^n. If x>y, the units digit of x-y CANNOT be A) 1 B) 3 C) 5 D) 7 E) 9 xy=10^n x>y x =5 , y= 2 , x-y = 3 x = 25, y = 4, x-y = 1 x = 10, y = 1, x-y = 9 x = 25, y = 8, x-y = 7 Hence 5. x=200, y=5, x-y = 195. so not 5 Ans is 7 when x= 25, y=8, we get xy = ...

A) 1
B) 3
C) 5
D) 7
E) 9
xy=10^n

x>y

x =5 , y= 2 , x-y = 3

x = 25, y = 4, x-y = 1

x = 10, y = 1, x-y = 9

x = 25, y = 8, x-y = 7

Hence 5.
