Manhattan GMAT is a trusted source, I doubt they would restrict the use of "when" to specific dates or events as you have mentioned in your example. If you observe carefully, "when" does refer to time even in this example: the time or the moment when hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxi...

Exceeding the word limit is not a good idea. For schools that have a "suggested" word limit, you can exceed the word limit by about 10%, but not for other schools. The word limit tests you on how succintly and coherently you can present your ideas. :)

In (C) whether nuclear power is the subject or the object of the second sentence, the fact remains that the comparison is between the percentage of energy from nuclear power in France and the percentage of energy from nuclear power in France. (E) is incorrect because "it" does not have a c...

(A) is the correct answer choice. You must be wondering why “computer chipsâ€ is followed by “has sentâ€. But look closely, the subject here is not “computer chipsâ€ but “oversupplyâ€, which is singular in number and must be followed by a singular verb. It is the “oversupplyâ€ that â€...

Both the sentences are grammatically correct. The main difference is in the emphasis; the first one emphasizes XYZ enterprise; "the world's largest manufacturing firm" is parenthetical in this case. In the second usage, the focus is on "the world's largest manufacturing firm"; XY...

The author is comparing the location at which Cromelin passed the Earth with that at which Hailey's will pass. The correct idiom is "same distance...same position..., as". So the choices (A), and (B) do not hold good. Choice (C) compares "passing of Crommelin" to "Hailey's C...

The original sentence has a modifier error and a subject-verb agreement error. More importantly, it has a very awkward idiomatic structure. For instance, the sentence says, "On Earth, X is an indication of Y". This makes it seem as if we are comparing two planets, let us say Earth and Mars...

This is primarily a modifier question. The original structure of the sentence is as follows: Finally reaching a decision..., politicians decided to do X, instead of which they proposed Y, by which they intend to do Z. The last modifier, "instead of ..." is incorrect. A better structure wou...
