Trying to match schools with possible career paths...and get an understanding of the art of the possible. I currently work a non-profit, so I am making a big jump here. I would like to get into Venture Capital / Private Equity ....or maybe Long-Only Fund . 1. Too big a jump with an EMBA? 2. What sch...

Can't go wrong with Duke Fuqua's eMBA program...solid school with some really interesting people.
But if traveling is not a problem....Then I would also take a peek at:
Columbia, NYU Stern in NY and Kellogg and Booth in Chicago.

You are smart to think of the essays and interviews together. At this point, you should have a well-versed and detailed narrative on why you want to go to XYZ school. Us that as your theme......your "Missions Statement" if you would. And build everything around that one concept.

Trend-Top eMBA schools are opening access to career services
A question for all the experts and consultants out there... It seems that there is a trend out there for the top eMBA programs to start providing more access to more career service resources for their eMBA students. This is a problem for group A (who are sponsored students that are supposed to be sh...

I just talked to an admissions director at a top 10 eMBA program and she told me that applications were up slightly ("single digits") for their 2010 fall entry. She added that 2011 looks flat....but its way too early. Also, interesting, their web traffic is the highest its ever been so far...

New York Schools
I am planning a visit to NYU and CBS soon and would like to get some feedback on...
1. How these two stack up in terms of their local reputation?
2. What people think of their facilities / campus?

Interesting feedback from humblebee....and it is an approach that can work for most any profession.
Also, if you are in your mid thirties with kids...I would think location would be key driving factor. All three schools are great...so I would suggest going where your kids will be the happiest!

Most adcoms try their best at putting together diverse classes each year.....which means taking people from many difficult backgrounds. And one of the most under-represented groups can often be political professionals. They tend to stand out often in the crowd of finance/consulting/IT... I would con...

Very common background indeed. But also understand that many Indian professionals (engineers, IT, software, etc) will be your cohorts, co-workers, competitors for the rest of your career. The faster you come to grips with that, the better you will adapt to future marketplace. Sincerely, White, Ameri...

You would be slightly older than many applicants, which may hurt. But otherwise, you have a unique profile.
I would say Kellogg would be unlikely....and Duke and NYU would be reach schools.

We have seen some other programs storm the rankings after starting off anew or changing their program. Notre Dame did it when they jumped to #20 in the 2005 rankings (after not being previously ranked). Cornell had a similar jump in 2003 when their program changed and it landed them at #14. Based on...

Really tough call and would need a case vs case to make a call here. Lets just use Businessweek and US News Rankings. That would provide is with two match ups: ------------------------------ US NEWS ------ BUSINESSWEEK #10 EMBA SCHOOL -----> UNC ----------> DUKE #20 FT SCHOOL ---------> USC --------...

Changing programs?
do any schools allow students to transfer from the full time program into an executive program (or vice versa)? If they say that the programs are similar, wouldn't it be easy to move from one to the other? Do any schools allow transfers?
