Sanju, i am not sure what you are implying. The area of a triangle is ( 1/2 )*(b*h) Base X Height is 4/(sqrt 2) * 4/(sqrt 2), which I am certain is equal to 16/2 which equals 8. Now 1/2 * 8 (because we still need to multiply by 1/2 ) = 4. But 4 isn't an answer choice... Area of the Square is being ...

Sanju, i am not sure what you are implying.

The area of a triangle is (1/2)*(b*h)

Base X Height is 4/(sqrt 2) * 4/(sqrt 2), which I am certain is equal to 16/2 which equals 8.

Now 1/2 * 8 (because we still need to multiply by 1/2) = 4.

But 4 isn't an answer choice...

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here..4 coordinates are (0,2) (2,0) (0, -2) and (-2, 0).

That means that the diagonal of the square is 4 so each side is 4/(sqrt 2).

Area = base x height = 4/(sqrt 2) * 4/(sqrt 2) = 8 x 1/2 = 4.

But thats not one of the answer..

Brian and fskilnik, you guys hit it on the nail! Thank you so much for the prompt and detailed response! I think the key take away here is that both the apples and the oranges have an equal chance of appearing in any of the five available slots and this is the reason why there is a 2/5 chance for th...

A little fuzzy on this probability concept

There was a post on this site that discussed this topic but I couldn't find it so I'm posting it again. A bag has 3 oranges and 2 apples, what is the probability of picking out an apple on the third try. I think the answer is 2/5, which is exactly the same probability as picking it out on the first ...

Awesome point, but aren't the directions for the SC section to choose the best possible answer out of the five choices? A lot of times all 5 answers are horribly structured and worded, but one is worded slightly less horrible. So in your example, question # 118 probably had 4 other choices which re...

stuart's post is a nice summary, and he has included a helpful takeaway (place the modifiers as close as possible to the things they modify). do note, though, that "as close as possible" can sometimes, though infrequently, still be pretty far away. specifically, the problem with (a) is th...

I believe it is D. A and B use the word 'which' and that might incorrectly refer to night instead of the entire action of the temperature dropping. C uses the future tense "this will mean" when sentence is orginally in the past tense. E "emerging from the soil" is ambiguous becua...

Yeah, the "and" indicated two subjects so the "have" is the correct option. Remember, when you have "and" it is typically to list a series of subjects, which makes the subject plural. The verb must agree with the subject so the verb must be plural as well. Example: The ...

Why didn't anyone post the answer?

Its 7 right?

The LCM of both numbers is 5400, which can be broken down into prime numbers: (2^2)x(3^3)x(5^2) and the values of a, b and c are 2, 3 and 2 respectively.

2 + 3 + 2 = 7, so D. 7.

KMittal, you are absolutely correct. But at the end I think you meant to say that 43 is the only number that does NOT satisfy the criteria.
