Hi Achala, While not optimal for a lot of people, one option would also be to use vacation days to study so that you can completely focus on studying for the GMAT. Usually, I find the people who are working full time that do that best are those who study for several months, and then who do a couple ...

Since this is a topic that comes up a fair amount, I thought that responding would hopefully help someone even though the post is a bit old. Upon reading your statements a couple things came to mind. 1) Having four years of work experience is good, and around the average, but doesn't really say much...

Hi Pranav and BTG community, As Jen stated, taking the level 1 exam of the CFA could help you, but only if you have the results before you apply (the deadline for the spring admissions 2016 is in April). With that said, the CFA takes a fair amount of studying. If you decide to take the CFA, make sur...

Hi Aman, As a quick introduction, I've been helping students in France for the last seven years and thus I'm fairly well acquainted with HEC and their requirements. With that said your GMAT score and academics are good enough so that won't be a problem. So at this point it would come down to your es...

Hi Laser, I've been helping people here in Paris for the last six years and I agree with Kate on pretty much everything. Some other things to keep in mind are: 1) The GMAT keeps people out and your essays get you in. On the surface I think that you have a pretty good shot, but you need to market you...

Hi Andre, How basic is your math level ? If your math level is really at the beginners level (lower than 30th percentile) you would do well to buy a foundations of GMAT math book (such as Manhattan's). A book like that would help you bring you mental math up to speed. There are also many mental math...

Hi Pradeep, First, I'd like to agree with Miss Erickson- it's the GRE math percentile that matters. Thus, the GRE math isn't really "easier" since you still need to get a high percentile score. If you're applying to a school like INSEAD they ask you to get in the 80th percentile on both se...

Hi Harish, It generally takes at least a month to write good essays so you're going to be pushing it. This is because almost everyone needs or at least should, write several drafts. However, GMATinsight is right- you need to focus on taking the GMAT first. What you can do though is start brainstormi...

Hi Jazzman, What types of questions did you miss on the verbal section of your tests ? That is, was critical reasoning a problem or was it more sentence correction or reading comp. ? Generally, the sentence correction section can be fixed faster that the CR and RC parts. If the SC section was the pr...

Hi Gabrielle, Yes, there probably is a plateau, but no I don't think you've hit it. I usually have all of my students do all of the OG 13, and the OG quant book, and then have them redo all of the questions that they had trouble with. It's this second review that is particularly powerful. Also, sinc...

Also- over a 5 week period of time you'll probably get a bit rusty. Things come back fairly fast for most students, but you'll most likely need at least a couple good weeks of studying to get your level and stamina back up.

Hi Bobo, So I generally agree that it's probably a bad idea to completely skip the writing section. Generally, you want to get at least a 4.5 out of 6. However, I have had a couple students who were borderline 650 who just decided to go ahead and take the risk of skipping and who managed to get into...

Hello! Wow- it looks like you've done a lot of work. Have you reviewed all of the stuff you've done a second time though? If not, you should go back through and redo all of the questions that gave you trouble a second time to make sure that you're not making the same mistakes and that you've really ...

Hello again! Some more good problems include the other OG books (math and verbal), the GMATPrep question pack (more official practice), and perhaps the paper tests that you can get on MBA.com's website. As you can see, I'm a fan of official practice problems. The downside is that their explanations ...
