oh you bet...i need a little time off but am planning to take it again in early fall so i don't lose too much momentum. it's 700+ or bust! i think 90 points will be pretty reasonable to make up.
i'll be back on this forum full-time soon enough.

Is answer B?
1) not sufficient
2) plugging in xy=3 into the question...
(x^2+2(9)+y^2)/(x^2-2(9)+y^2)=
(x^2+y^2)/(x^2+y^2)=
=1
Am I missing something? Can anything be done with the information given in 1)?

For #26... Isn't 1) sufficient? We know that Martin takes the tens digit of the amount of his bill x2 as the amount of his tip. Assuming his bill is $16, he would then leave a $2 tip. 15% of 16 if $1.80, so yes, the tip is greater than 15% of the amount of the bill. A 15% tip on a $49 bill would be ...

The OA for #16 is B. (obviously) not sure how to approach this one...i randomly assigned 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 as the five positive temperatures. average is 30, sum of largest 3 is 120. B suffices. but then if you put in, say 20, 25, 30, 35 and 50...none of the choices suffice. clearly this isn't t...

Is the answer A?
Rate of rockets/hr=
R(A)=x rockets/1hr
R(B)=1.1xrockets/hr
thus time to make 660 rockets=
t(A)=660/x
t(B)=660/1.1x
but we know that it takes machine A 10 hours more than it takes machine B, so:
t+10=660/x
t=660/1.1x
substitute and solve for x.

2. Is ¦x - y¦>¦x - z¦? (1) ¦y¦>¦z¦ (2) x < 0 (1) alone is not sufficient. This tells us that the absolute value of Y is greater than that of Z. Yet plugging in both positive and negative values for Y and Z in the question produces different inequalities (i.e. let x=5, y=+3/-3, and z=+2/-2). (2) alo...

Ok, so from I) we know that x<y, thus clearly not sufficient. II) we know that z<0, so the denominator is negative, and for the statement to be true, the numerator (x+y) must be negative as well. But, we can't determine if x is pos or neg. II) alone is not sufficient. Both statements put together, z...

Is the answer B (7.2)? Total distance/total time: (d)/(T1+T2) Let X equal the distance between Milbura and Renmark. Boat travels this distance twice, hence X+X or d. Let T equal the time it takes to travel between each town. Since rate x time = distance, we have 6 x T1=X and 9 x T2=X. So plugging in...
