just looking at the numbers alone, i'd say the answer is 1/2(="c") b/c only when 1/2 of 50% solution is mixed with 1/2 of 30% solution, one will get a whole of 40% solution.

what we know: cbo = bco (isoscles triangle). bao = boa (isocles triangle). (1) we know that cbo = 2bao b/c of the the external angle rule. 120 = bao + (180-2cbo) ; cbo = 2bao. 120 = bao + (180 -4bao) 3bao = 60; bao = 20. So (1) is sufficient. (2) much easier to solve; bco = 2 bao 40 = 2bao; bao = 20

My top 5 schools are Tuck, Stern, Fuqua, Ross and Columbia. I talked to one of the admission officers from one of the above schools yesterday and according to him 3 or 4 times is the ideal. He said "no more than 5". :wink:
