I think A is correct. I approach it as a math question. Conclusion: 7% state tax rate is higher for lower income families. Premise: Fed tax rate is proportional to income level. Assumption: low income families and high income families spend equal amount. For instance, if they both spend $100 on a pr...

I chose A. "but" is needed because it's connecting two independent clauses. So eliminate choice B and D. eliminate choice E because the caluse after "but" does not have a subject. eliminate choice C because error in parallelism. the word "it" refers to writing, so it sh...

I thought that you can validate a statement by plugging in what the question is asking for. For this question, I test statement (2) first by using y=2 and then by a couple other numbers that are not 2. When y = 2 and x is a multiple of y, then x+2 is always even and is therefore a multiple of y. Whe...

I came up with A as the answer. from the diagram, Angle ABC = 180-x-2x = 180-3x Angle DBC = 180-2x-2x = 180-4x so, Angle ABD = ABC - DBC = (180-3x) - (180-4x) = x since ABD = BAD = x, side BD = AD since BDC = BCD = 2x, side BD = BC combining these two, side BC = BD = AD Statement (1) gives AD = 6, s...

You are right. I didn't consider the possibility of y = 1 in statement (2), so C should be the answer.
I always forget about 0 or 1.

(1) y ≠ 1
y could be 2, 3, 4, or etc.
eliminate A and D
(2) x+2 is multiple of y
if y = 2, and x is multiple of y, then x is even
x + 2 is still even, and it is multiple of y
so y = 2 is valid
Choice B is correct

I think the answer is E. I solve it by picking a few numbers to test the statements: (1) N>3 pick integer 5, it could be 2+3 (sum of two primes), but it could also be 1+4 (not primes) try another integer 6, it could be 3+3 or 2+4 so eliminate choice A and D (2) N is odd pick integer 7, it could be 2...

Great job!
I'd also like to improve my score by 100 in a month or so.
Could you shed some more light on how you took the notes you mentioned?
Did you write out the entire questions and answers or just the main concepts?
Where did you find more difficult questions to practice?
