IMO D
1) a+b=b-c
tells us that;
a=-c
replace a in the question
((-c)-b)/(b+c)= -(b+c)/(b+c)=-1
2)a/c=-1
tells us
a=-c
do same thing as 1)
hence D,
or is it one of those trap questions?
what is OA?

try to go through the rule by using already known prime numbers eg if n=17, 17/2=not divisible 17/3=not divisible 17/5=not divisible 17/7=not divisible 17/11=not divisible 17/11=not divisible can you tell that steps after 17/3 are redundant? as you know sqrt(17) is just little over 4 (as sqrt(16)=4)...

Geo Question
In the diagram to the right, triangle PQR has a right angle at Q and line segment QS is perpendicular to PR. If line segment PS has a length of 16 and line segment SR has a length of 9, what is the area of triangle PQR? I know the answer can be derived by using 3-4-5 triangle, my question is, how ca...

Re: standard deviation for the original 5 numbers?
assume A as the sum of the new variances .... A= (X6 - mean)^2 + (X7 - mean)^2 we know that (40 + A)/7 = 8 (X6 - mean)^2 + (X7 - mean)^2= 16 (X6 - 4)^2 + (X7 - 4)^2 = 16 I'm not understanding this part here. Can explain this part in more detail? I would like to learn this. and as for picking betwee...

IMO E) since we don't know how many numbers series Y contains, the SD can be anything if series Y contain (0,2000, infinite numbers of 500) the mean will be infinitely close to 500, while SD will be infinitely close to zero. and it can be the other way if Y contains (0,0,0,2000) the mean will be 500...

Yeah I agree, only take timed practice tests when you are comfortable with SC questions. There are two reasons: 1) You will learn more when you actually figure out the answer by yourself. Use the book to figure out if you have to, don't look at the answer explanation right away. 2) you will gain mor...
