I agree with Calista The sum of n consecutive positive integers is 45. What is the value of n? (1) n is even Now 45 is an odd nos so if n is even, it must have half even nos & half odd nos which will when summed up will lead to an odd nos, there are many possibilities like 22,23 5,6,7,8,9,10 etc...

Thanks very much Sujay, did not sufficiently analyse this one

the scenario

3z<m<4z<0 cannot arise

Thanks for pointing out. :)

Happy New Year 2008! & best of luck for ur GMAT

IMO ans should be E m + z > 0 ? here we can say that if both m,n are +ve then m+z>0 & if boh m,n are -ve then m+z is less than 0 1) m-3z>0 or m>3z here both are possible i.e m>3z>0 or 0>m>3z INSUFF 2) 4z-m>0 4z>m again both scenarios are possible here also INSUFF Combine 3z<m<4z but still we can...

Hi Kansonne, As per my knowledge of the directions for geomety questions, we can extract some data from the diagram like here we can say AC is a straight line, coz it clearly looks like that in the diagram, IMO if there was an angle then it would have been clearly shown (you see a lot of geometry qu...

Q] If x,y,a,b are all positive Integers and x^3 + y^3 = a^3 + b^3, then is xy>89 since all the nos are +ve so we have 1] a^3 + b^3 = 1729 largest +ve nos that can be considered here is 12 coz 12 ^3 =1728(we need sum as 1729) hence we have 12,1 are possible values we can also evaluate some other cube...

1) ADB = 180 -2x, ABD =x

so triangle ADB is isoceles

hence BD = 6 & BC =6

2) x=36, no side given INSUFF

In the xy-plane, does the line with equation y = 3x+2 contain the point (r,s)? (1) (3r+2-s)(4r+9-s)=0 i.e 3r+ 2 -s =0 or 4r+9-s =0 s =3r+2 or s =4r +9 INSUFF r,s an lie on either of the lines (2) (4r-6-s)(3r+2-s)=0 4r-6-s =0 i.e s =4r-6 or 3r+2-s =0 i.e 3r+2 =s INSUFF same as above Combine s =3r+2 o...

n^2 < 1/100

i.e n <1> -1/10

since n is to the left of 0, hence n > -1/10

i.e n > -1/10

i.e 10 > -1/n

or 1/n (reciprocal of n)< -10

IMO the ans should be D, ofcourse stmt2 is SUFF now in stmt 1, we have a 3-4-5 triangle, largest side is 5 & 5^2 = 3^2 + 4^2 since the pythagoras theorem is satisfied here hence the triangle must be a right angle traingle coz pythagoras theorem will not hold true for any other type of triangle e...

I dont see how the ans can be C If n is an integer between 10 and 99, is n < 80 ? (2) Each of the two digits of n is a prime number. for this stmt to be false we need to deduce that both n<80 & n GE (greater than or equal to) 80 are possible n<80 we have 73 but for n GE (greater than or equal to...

1) When positive integer n is divided by 3, remainder is 2. When positive integer t is divided by 5, remainder is 3. What is the remainder when product nt is divided by 15. i.e n = 3a + 2 & t =5b+3 a) n -2 is divisible by 5 i.e n =5c + 2 also n =3a +2 so 5c +2 = 3a +2 or 5c = 3a so here we can s...
