Hi Jen, Thanks for answering my question and for your valuable advice. Its easier to fall into the trap of focusing on where I could possibly be on the scoring chart rather than concentrate on how I can choose the right answer to the next question. Once again, thanks for reinforcing the basic rules....

No takers for this question of mine??? To help you out a little more, the sentence I am refering to appears on Page # 68 of the book (Second Edition, authored by Ingrid Multhopp, ISBN: 0743250990) fifth line of the first paragraph. Like I mentioned in my original post, what is the basis of this stat...

Question about a statement I saw in GMAT Verbal Workbook

Hello, I am using the GMAT Verbal Workbook to prepare for the verbal section. I came across an interesting statment when reading through the strategies that can be employed in answering Reading Comprehension questions. There is a line that says "if you get an EXCEPT question on your exam, then ...

Re: Do Rankings Matter? Things That Make You Go Hmmmm....

My thoughts: I have to agree with Nikil's assessment of the rankings. While the rankings can be a benchmark in making a decision, I too believe it is quite subjective depending on what the applicant wants. While its nice to get a feel for the kind respect a particular school has garnered in each of ...

Nikhil, Based on your experience in the consulting industry and on your past experience in applying to B-school, do adcom's regard Indian citizens who have a degree in engineering but work in a non-IT field as the typical stereotype (for lack of better word)? Any input/insight will be greatly apprec...

Great question, I have thought about the same thing a lot of times, but the way I see it is, you just have to market yourself, just like you would be marketing a new product that is vying for attention from competitor's products. IMHO, you have to support your accomplishments/qualifications with sol...

How about getting in touch with one of your professors from your grad/undergrad days? If its been a few years since you graduated, you could probably send them an email reminding them about taking their course or being involved in a project with other students and how he/she rated your performance. ...

Question about under-grad transcripts

I have a question about sending under graduate transcripts as part of the application. Most schools require applicants to send in their under graduate transcripts as part of the application process. Being an international student (I completed my undergrad in 1998), now residing in the US, I have a c...

I have to agree with another beatthegmatter who mentions about using Kaplan's Verbal Workbook. I think the strategies mentioned in the book are quite simple and the more you practice the better you get at it. Even if you are using paper based practice questions its alright. The main aim is to quickl...

Have you tried working out the RC passages that are available on the CD's that ship with Kaplan GMAT books? GMATPrep software should have some RC questions available. If you have already taken the GMATPrep test, uninstall the software and delete any directories that the program installed on your com...

Hi,

My guess is they will provide the foam earplugs. I am yet to take the GMAT, but I don't see GMAC being so magnanimous to make the test-taker's life easy by providing the noise-canceling headphones :).

Good luck and beatthegmat!

Pfh, Sorry to hear about the drop in your quant score. I have to agree with Aleksandr about the GMAT being a test of one's psychology. If it helps any, what I would do is to take a look at the scores from the 5 practice tests and review how the scoring pattern was on the quant section in each of the...
