The creators of the test assume you will be able to figure out shortcuts. Although, I must confess I do not understand why the test makers insist on sticking to solving mathematical problems with a stylus and tablet when the rest of the civilized world uses calculators or spreadsheets. Heck, I know ...

From the official GMAT website, it appears as though these scores are trending a bit below the overall average test scores. Can we infer any changes to the difficulty level of IR questions?

I had trouble with this case as well, but I was hammered on the NEXT question where board prestige is apparently inferable? For question 7A I agree with OG13 that this is NOT inferable as there are several factors that effect the IPO price. What I don't understand is that on question 8A why you can ...

Thank you!

I have one follow up question for the GMAT experts.

Just to be clear, the Official Guide 12th edition is misprinted, yes? In my book on p315 it says P1(1+ T1/0)? I believe the equation should be P1(1+ T1/100).

That makes complete sense, can't believe I missed that.

At least I got the rest of the questions correct after this question; although, I found some of the last DS questions to be easy?

Anyway, thank you very much.

OG 12th edition - Data Sufficiency question #161

I don't understand how to simplify this question. 161. Beginning in January of last year, Carl made deposits of $120 into his account on the 15th of each month for several consecutive months and then made withdrawals of $50 from the account on the 15th of each of the remaining months of last year. T...

I just found this solution to the Official Guide 12ed problem solving question #138, he uses the table method to solve the problem. Very easy to understand; although, if people keep making the math look so easy we will probably start to see some Physics II questions on the exam. Physics II hurt my b...

Thank you very much for the detailed solution. I solved for the 1st statement by just taking a high level approach. If we start with a number, let's say 100 in 1997, then increase this amount by some percentage, the percent decrease in 1998 would HAVE to be a smaller percentage just to equal what we...

Test grid designed to mimic test checkboxes

I created the attached OG 12th edition Checkbox Test Grid report to quickly and efficiently identify problem areas. The report uses checkboxes to record your answers and the button on the “Problem Report page pulls only the questions that were answered incorrectly for careful review. The advanc...

I would STRONGLY suggest you go over some of the math problems from the Official GMAT Guide and use the official software.

From reading over the posts of people who did really well on the GMAT exam, I noticed almost all used the OG and the official software.

Excel report

Hi all, While I was slogging through the Official GMAT Guide 12th edition, I created a spreadsheet to keep track of my progress. The test grid and analysis reports run off a macro and use advanced filtering tricks in Excel 2007. When I was working at a top consulting firm, I was the "go to"...
