blaque, Without knowing more about your specific situation and background, I hesitate to make any specific recommendations regarding application strategy. However, there are some things that I think would help anyone. One important thing for me was to get my applications in as early as possible. Tha...

tfa2mba, Good luck with your application at Olin! As far as the Admissions staff and students, I agree 100%. They never hesitated to answer my questions and were always very friendly. As far as a focus goes, I'm still pretty open, but I'm leaning towards Marketing/Brand Management. Anyways, please l...

Thanks a lot. Those seem like some pretty good resources. Through my own research, I found www.knowthis.com. The site is all about marketing, but it seems like a pretty good resource too. Any other thoughts/recommendations would be appreciated.

What should I read to get ready for B-School?

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for good MBA primers/prep books? I was thinking about getting The Complete MBA for Dummies, just to brush up before school starts. Does anyone else have any other recommendations? Also, please let me know whether you are an MBA student already. Thanks!

The details of the financial offers and admission decisions are below McCombs @ UT-Austin - Denied admission (still don't know why, maybe I forgot to shower before my interview) Olin @ Washington University in St...

I had a 3.00 from my Freshman and Sophomore year at Junior College where I got my Associates degree. I then transferred to University of Texas at Dallas where I have a 3.97 with 4 classes to go. Will Business Schools take the overall GPA or just the GPA of my Junior and Senior classes? Thanks for y...

1. Timing 2. Timing 3. Timing Make sure that you are using all of the time that the GMAT gives you as well as you can. The easiest way to maximize your time on the GMAT is to guess on problems that are way out of your league, shorten the time that you use on easier problems, and learn to automatical...

To accept an early offer or not

Amy/Stacy, Thank you for taking a look at my post. I have a question regarding whether to accept an early offer or not. I applied to five schools in the first round. One of my top picks admitted me very quickly and also offered me a significant scholarship. However, I have to put a $2,000 deposit do...

Well, I got all of my applications in for the Round 1 deadline. I thought that I would feel a huge sense of relief, but now I'm worrying about being accepted and getting solid financial offers. Thankfully, I got some good news yesterday that relieved a little bit of my stress. I got the 'green light...

One other site that I would recommend is accepted.com. They have a free, searchable database of MBA questions asked at the top schools, including Oxford. Here's the link: http://www.accepted.com/mba/interviews/ ... earch.aspx
Good luck!

McCombs / Olin / Mays / Cox / Price

Hello! I think this topic is worth supporting, so I thought that I would add a little bit about my ongoing admissions struggles. Here's a run-down of my stats: 27-year old male, US citizen BS in non-technical field 3.3 GPA, but it started REALLY low and got progressively higher Served 7 years in US ...

By the way, in case you are wondering how I did on the GMAT, I got a 740. I credit a lot of my success to the Manahattan GMAT course. Here's a link to my posting regarding my test experience. It also lists my practice test results.

I took six practice tests - the two GMATprep tests and four from MGMAT. I would recommend taking at least four tests. In my opinion, you should take a GMATprep test before you start studying. This will give you a baseline that you can base your progress/study habits off of. I would save the second G...
