I'm usually a lurker around these parts, and don't post very often in the forum, but I just want to pipe in here to say that I couldn't agree more with SanketMali, Aashna K and sdilmanian. I've been thinking about applying to b-school for at least a year and a half now, and considered applying for t...

Hi Stacey, Thank you so much for taking the time to write your detailed reply. Your points that I would do well to further detail the specific ways in which I can bring MBA lessons into my nonprofit arts world, and that I should look towards extracurriculars for demonstrable leadership opportunities...

Profile Eval: Nontraditional, Arts Nonprofit, Journalism
Hi Stacey, I'm coming at this from a background with relatively little exposure to friends/colleagues applying to business school, so I would be very grateful to have an outside perspective on my candidacy as it currently stands for applying in round 1 this fall. In particular, I'd like to know: If ...

Congratulations aanderson04! Reading that you arrived at the test center four hours early made me laugh a little -- that definitely sounds like something I would do (unfortunately)! I'm surprised at so much Kaplan hate. I started my GMAT preparation with the Kaplan Premier Program, but now I sort of...

I'm not an admissions consultant, but as an employee of a small nonprofit with a modest salary, I'm with you you moonshine. I would guess that consulting services are out of reach for many of us. I am hopeful that by taking advantage of many of the MBA admissions books, as well as using school websi...

I am taking a GMAT prep course with my local university, and it's not very helpful because there's not any structure and the teacher basically just stands there and makes small talk until we ask for help with specific questions. But at least it's super cheap ($250 for 11 sessions). I would hope that...

Sounds smart, but definitely not a strategy I would want to do personally! Early morning before work is my dedicated gym time, so I wouldn't give that up for anything. I do think that a lot probably just depends on personal preference. If you're somebody whose brain works better first thing in the m...

Also, was it your first CAT? I just started studying recently and I've found there is a bit of a learning curve in terms of pacing and stress when dealing with the adaptive test. Hi JasonReynolds, I took the GRE a couple years back before getting my MA, but this was my first CAT for GMAT. I hadn't ...

Hi Courtney, First of all I'll say that I havent taken the GMAT yet, but I have a few ideas about test practice. 1. Do you know some categories of your errors? Do you keep a error log? It is very helpful to know if you made a concept error, a careless error, of if you have trouble with a particular...

Hi Jim, Thanks for your feedback. I am going to cross my fingers that it's just an issue of getting used to new tricks and tips. I also think I am going to start taking practice tests more regularly so that I have a better pool of data with which to chart my progress. Hopefully that will help! Court...

Hi yogi123,
Do you have the Official Guide? I would say that the OG is much more necessary than any additional Kaplan book, because the OG uses actual real test questions.
