Gmat Prep Question - please help

If x < 0, then sqrt (-x |x|) is a. -x b. -1 c. 1 d. x e. sqrt x OA is A . Can someone please explain how to get the answer? [spoiler]My logic was the following: x = -1. Thus -(-1) = 1, and the absolute value of -1 is 1. So the sqrt (1) is 1, thus x, OA D. FUrthermore, how can it be - isn't the squar...

Thanks a lot Bluementor.
Can I just ask how long it took you to get the OA? Is there anything you did to streamline your process (took me a long time to do this)?
thanks

I just came across this question, and got the right OA. However reading the explanation above (Cramya's in particular) I am a little confused. If n = 3, then its factors are 1 and 3 (thus it has 2 factors). So 2n = 6, and its factors are 1,3 and 2. But this does not mean that 2n is "divisible b...

Combined Work done by A + B + C as per given data
2(1/A+1/B+1/C)=5/6+2/3+1/2 =1/2
ksh,
Your equation is slightly mistaken. It should be
(1/2A+1/2B+1/2C)=1/2
2A + 2B + 2C = 2
2(A + B + C) =2
thus A + B + C = 1

Should vs Will

I just came across this question and the OA has left me slightly perturbed. When I conceive a “calculation” I can not always associate an absolute certainty that it will happen (as yogikarma correctly says). In this example the word “will” would imply an absolute certainty about the calculation's pr...
