How many positive integers in a set?

Set S consists of 20 different positive integers. How many of the intergers in S are odd? (1) 10 of the integers in S are even (2) 10 of the integers in S are multiples of 4 The answer is A but it seems like you have to assume all integers of S aren't even. No other constraints are given to justify ...

answer is 1/(1-1/5)=1.2 This is what I thought as well. But the correct answer is 1.25x. Hi, Both of you must have made calculation mistakes. 1/(1-1/5) = 1/(4/5) = 5/4 = 1.25 Could you explain how you came up with "1/(1-1/5)" ? I understand the calculation you performed, however, I'm not ...

a2 = 2a1,

a5 - a2 =12
So, 16a1 - 2a1 = 12 => a1 = 6/7

Hence, E
Could you explain a5 = (2^4)a1 = 16a1 a little further? I'm not seeing where that is coming from.

I understand the problem fairly well. n must be at least -1/11. But here's where I am confused: doesn't the reciprocal also mean the sign changes? So -1/11 becomes 11 so E should be the answer, but A is the answer. The only way A is correct is if the sign doesn't change. But when dealing with recip...

For these questions involving overlapping sets, I like to use the Double Matrix method. (see video at: http://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2011/05/05/random-double-matrix-question-1) A lot of people use Venn diagrams, but I think Venn diagrams aren't as useful for keeping track of information when the q...

I agree with Uri that we need to know that all of the numbers in the set are integers in order for the first statement to be sufficient. I've seen the question before, and I think it does say 'positive integers' rather than 'positive numbers', so I expect that's a transcription error in the origina...

Studying for 7-8 hours a day seems extreme. If you are THAT weak in Quant (getting a 13) then you definitely don't need to cram. You need to move slowly. Take 1-2 days off per week. Study in short bursts of 1-3 hours (min/max) at a time. You are not allowing your brain to fully grasp the logic behin...
