Re: make or synthesize ?

See attached document. Although C ( the correct answer ) did sound better to me, I picked D, because C assumes that synthesizing a hormone is the same as making/creating one. Can we really make this assumption on SC ? Option changes the meaning of the sentence, an assumption here is not needed.... ...
