What does this rate?..be ruthless!

(This is my second attempt at GMAT essay writing...rip it up, don't worry about salving my ego. I'm hoping this at least rates a "5". If not, why? Thanks.) "The presence of a competitor is always beneficial to a company. Competition forces a company to change itself in ways that impro...

(This is my first attempt at GMAT essay writing; I'm not expecting high marks. Please rate this, and be merciless. I have a thick skin. Thanks.) The following appeared as part of an article in a magazine on lifestyles. "Two years ago, City L was listed 14th in an annual survey that ranks cities...

PowerPrep is the GMAT prep test put out by the official testing service in the past. It is essentially the same as the current GMATPrep, except that the two tests use slightly different algorithms. Either way, you'll get roughly the same scores on PowerPrep and GMATPrep. I took both PowerPrep tests ...

At least two people on this forum who scored high on the GMAT have said that 1000 SC includes questions for which the "correct" answer is, in fact, incorrect by GMAT standards. Thus, 1000 SC could be a bad influence on us. Just do a "search" on this forum for 1000 SC. You'll get ...

Mixpanda: If I may offer some more advice, it would be a good idea for you to take a GMAT practice test everyday between now and the test date. Taking the practice tests everyday will ensure that you have peak timing and pacing capacity on the real test. The tests you should take, in my opinion, are...

The experts on this board say that, on the real GMAT, a person will most likely perform within 50 points of their score on their last GMATPrep test. Right now, your true testing ability is probably in the 620 to 720 range. A person's score on the real test can be somewhat lower or higher than their ...

I took the two PowerPrep exams this weekend, and they seem to be in line with how I've been performing in general. I would guess that PowerPrep is just as good an indicator of test taking ability as any other actual GMAT prep test published by ETS. Here's my study log: 1/30/09 - GMATCAT1: 640 V: 40 ...

Manhattan Review Turbocharge Math: good, tough questions?

I am thinking about buying Manhattan Review's Turbocharge Math book. The questions seem pretty tough to me. Can anyone confirm that this book has questions good enough to prepare a testee for GMAT questions along the lines of post-700 score difficulty? http://www.amazon.com/Manhattan-Review-Turbocha...

My understanding is that the old Powerprep GMAT tests are identical to actual paper-and-pencil GMATs, except that they are computerized. I don't know. I plan to take the two Powerprep tests next week, along with all nine of the old paper-and-pencil GMATs that are widely circulated. I expect the Powe...
