Congrats for this great score!! I appeared on Dec 19. My score is 720(Q 48, V 42). I am not able to understand how could there be difference in total score when sectional scores are same. Can you please tell me your percentile score? Dear Manmohanji I'm fairly confused as well. My guess is that the...

740 (Q 48, V 42)
Hi guys, I took my GMAT on Dec 26 and scored 740 (Q 48, V 42). I've been a regular, though mostly passive, visitor to this forum. Needless to say, the amazing beatthegmat community played a big role in my score. So please accept my deep appreciation. --- Ian Stewart, A big thanks to you. I always ma...

I second what papgust said. I greatly benefited from Manhattan GMAT.
Also be on the lookout for the number property problems people post here and see how the gurus explain the solution. I personally like Ian Stewart's way of explaining.

Set up a table with three columns, and see which combinations of r and s result in an odd integer for rs+r : r s rs+r O O E (OxO+O = O+O = E) O E O (OxE+O = E+O = O) E O E (ExO+E = E+E = E) We don't need to check r (E), s (E) combination, but if you want you can. So rs+r would be odd only when r is ...

Maybe you've misread III. It says c^2+d^2>1, NOT c^2+d^2>0
Say c is 0.3 and d is 0.5, thus c^2+d^2 = 0.34 and this is less than 1.

5C = 12A and 4A = 9B; So 5C = 12A = 27B
17C = 11D, so 5C ~ 3D (approximation is fine here, since D seems far enough from A and B)
The master equation is thus set: 5C = 12A = 27B ~ 3D. So D must be the largest, B the smallest and C>A.
Ans: DCAB

Re: Is y an integer
Say x^2 = 10, which is an integer. Is x an integer? No. I believe this is a common and classic illusion.uptowngirl92 wrote: If x^2 is an integer,then x is an integer.Poss values of x=2,3 which makes y an integer.IMO C.

Re: Game of Pattern Recognition
Phil and Joe play a game of pattern recognition. Phil tells Joe to say any two numbers in sequence and he will form a pattern out of them. Joe say 12 and 15 and phil says 150 and 156. If phils response to Joe's 3rd number was 162, what was Joe's third number? A. 17 B. 18 C. 20 D. 25. E. 30 OA is C....

Question on businessweek data on intake size
Hi all, Please take a look at this data from BW rankings page for Fuqua as an example: Application (A) - 3122 Selectivity (S) - 30% Yield (Y) - 46% If you do the math (A*S*Y), the intake size comes to about 431. But BW reports full-time enrollment as 878, which is roughly double the result I just me...

3 , 0, 3, 12, 27, 48, 75 3*1, 3*0, 3*1, 3*4, 3*9, 3*16, 3*25 so basically our actual sequence is 1, 0, 1, 4, 9, 16, 25 I want to carry on from here, and I really think you've done a very good job up to this point. If you look at the sequence 1, 0, 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, you can see they're all perfect sq...

Hi Graham, Thanks so much for your insights. As I'm targeting the class starting 2010 fall, I'll have some time to address some of the issues you raised (except my age, which will get worse). your age may make things a bit more challenging at certain top schools. Could you please give me any idea wh...
