This is a very interesting discussion to have. The press has been decidedly bad lately on the online programs, pointing specifically to their recruiting habits, but that might have blemished the good with the bad. The question is does the online MBA program provide any distinction from a recruiting ...

The proof is in the pudding of recruiting. You should look at the management consultant companies you are interested in and see their recruiting numbers by school. Alternatively, you can request the same information from the schools you are interested in. Good luck! Aveek Guha, President, www.mbaday...

Hi, One way to narrow your search is to see where your prospective employers recruit from. Deloitte, Mckinsey BTO, etc have certain target schools - you might just ask some of these schools for their recruiting successes from your target employers. Its one thing to have the program, its another to g...

It depends the strength of your business background. If you were a business or accounting major to begin with, I do not think much is necessary. Additionally, if you work in an area that is more cross functional in nature with exposure to multiple disciplines, again, I think that is adequate in term...

I would go for it, provided it has some meaningful opinion on either professional matters or showcases a personality that pops. It would have to be distinct in that regard, not just a listing of things that you randomly blogged about. I think it adds a human element that can be quite a positive, if ...

The Chicago Booth School of Business has a summer scholars program -- great credentials, but a higher commitment needed than most can give. Of course there is our one day program as well :-). In general, the quantitative parts usually can use some brush up -- accounting/stats -- plus some intro to f...

Probably the easiest way to do this is to see where the companies recruit for talent. All these firms have certain feeder schools that the prioritize, both top-tier and 2nd tier. Ask the recruiting arms of these companies or the career orgs of the schools themselves. Best of luck, Aveek Guha, Presid...

Another option is the summer business scholars program at Chicago Booth School of Business -- not a replacement for standard graduate program but can be a good resume builder at an accredited place.

The death (and rebirth) of Digital Advertising as we know it

Here is why the digital media advertising will inevitably be turned upside down (again). You have two incredible phenomenons occurring in the present time: 1. Mobile handsets > PCs by 2014 - the mobile device will be the primary method by which users experience the internet, a vastly different form ...

Agree with above -- importantly, I think it shows your recommenders how serious you are about the MBA commitment, in the form of these essays. They can pick up on relevant themes and tailor their commentary to have a better story. Good luck! Aveek Guha, President, http://mbadaycamp.com/school_prospe...

Agree with the above. Also, I would profile some of the companies you work for -- that will give you a sense for where they source their talent from.

Good luck!

I think the advice above is excellent. The only thing I would also do is manage the process -- that is set some checkpoints up every few weeks to see if they have any questions, how you could help, etc. A hastily pulled together recommendation is easily spotted, it's really up to you to avoid that f...

I'd wait frankly -- lot can steer your life once you get out of school and you may be pushing the limits of the GMAT eligibility. If you find yourself with the same consideration senior year, I would say its about a 50/50 tradeoff, but not at this point. Good luck! Aveek Guha, President, www.mbadayc...

Second the reply above -- can't overemphasize the value you bring to the program. You need to show how the student body at large will be better off/progressed by the experience you bring. B-schools like to have diversity of experience in their students to allow people to learn off one another. As a ...
