However if we take A 's loosing is = B's winning. then it is 682:341 which is 2:1.

Hey!! I agree a is the best option.
But there is not OBJECT for " apply primer....." and "applying paint..... " right ???
Isnt it an incomplete sentence ???or is it understood that SURFACE is the object ??

IMO C Tinker means trying out some thing,anything randomly. So trying to tinker is redundant i guess. In A, the sentence means, trying to learn X is THE same as trying to (tinker) try out something (randomly) with a car.. makes sense ???? But C is comparing two phrases using LIKE. Doing so is idioma...
