Data sufficiency: Quadratics

In the equation x^2−7x+n=0, n is a constant and x is a variable. Is (x−6) a factor of x^2−7x+n=0? (1) n=6 (2) (x−1) is a factor of x2−7x+n=0. Ans: D But for 1) if we put n=6 into the equation wouldn't that yield 2 different values for x? namely x=6 or x=1? So why's this statement sufficien...

Data sufficiency modulus question

Data sufficiency question.

What is the value of a?

(1) |a|−|b|=0

(2) |a|+|b|=0

The answer is B (statement 2 is enough) but I can't figure out why.
TIA.

1) |a/b|=3

2) |a+b|=8

I think the answer may be C- both sufficient together. Please help!
Thanks!

IR inference question from GMAT software

Can someone please clarify why the answer to the first question is 'NO'?
I thought the data can be inferred from the table, even though the statement itself is not true.
Thanks.
