Hi, Let's say the quantities are t1,t2,t3,... Given that t2/t1 =t3/t2 =t4/t3 =.... = r. So, t1,t2,t3.. are in a geometric series. Given that t7/t1 = 2 So, r^6 = 2 We need to find t3/t1 = r^2. So, r^2 = 2^(1/3) Hi! could you pls explain what "t7/t1 = 2" means? and why "r^2 = 2^(1/3)&q...

Hello,
there is something I don't understand:
I agree that 12 is an integer that must divide n is 12 as 72= (2^4)(3^2)is a perfect square. However (2^6)(3^2) is also a perfect square so n could also be 24 and so it is divisible by 24.
Thanks

Hello, here is the explanation in the book: 1) Some multiples of 4 are divisible by 3, such as 12(y=12 is divisible by 3 hence y^3=12^3 is divisible by 27, and so y^3 = 12^3 is divisible by 9), and some multiples of 4 are not divisible by 3(y=8 is not divisible by 3, hence y^3 = 8^3 is not divisible...

Hey,
there is something I do not understand in the question stem.
If John loses 7 "individual" socks, doesn't that mean that they can be no pairs which means that there should be 1 from each pair but no 2 socks in one pair? so he is indeed left with 3.
