I came across this thread and wanted to share my story. I worked with Aringo on my applications a few years ago and got admitted to Wharton, Chicago, and Michigan (with a scholarship). I did not expect to have the opportunity to choose between 3 top MBA programs… Aringo in general and my consultan...

Hi kdn508, You have a very interesting story! I recommend this page http://www.aringo.com/Why_MBA_Essay.htm - it has some guidelines regarding writing the "why MBA" essay and some essay examples that may help you. All the best! Obviously it is not recommended to copy essays from other can...

Again, you will get better results, with everything, if you give yourself more time to study. The essays are a completely different element of the application process and should also not be hurried through. Sometimes this is where consultants come in to the picture, with their expertise at putting t...

The important thing here is to give yourself plenty of time to prepare your application. Do the GMAT with enough time to retake it, if you have to, because it may indirectly affect what you say about yourself in your essays. Your application is a balancing act and you are trying to cover all the bas...

Absolutely. You've come this far in preparing an application and if you think you've presented yourself in the best light possible, by all means go ahead and apply to the schools of your choice. At some point you just have to act.

Be happy :) you got a discount...
But if it bothers you, contact the school and ask, make sure they got your application.

They won't just accept anyone who wants an MBA from a prestigious school. If you don't have a good enough basic application, enough for them to work with, they will not take you on, at least the good ones won't. They have a reputation to maintain and they wouldn't burden the schools with anything su...

First, this person who got in with a 580 is obviously a very special case, and I'm sure he/she has a remarkable resume and personal story. So unless you accomplished something truly remarkable (Rhodes scholar, saved a village, escaped a war torn country, NFL player, founded a startup worth $10 mill...

Not everyone can afford the services of a good consultant and it's a big decision. I would say that if your GMAT is below 600 and if English is not your mother-tongue or you are not good at essay writing, it should be a serious consideration if you hope to get accepted to one of the top 10 schools. ...

Note that Aringo is a consulting company. They 'have ways' of helping people like yourself with a low GMAT to have a decent chance of getting accepted to a top school. It's what they do. Maybe you should think about going this route if you are at all able to, moneywise. Without that kind of help yo...

I was checking the Forum for a question I had and came across this. I can only reiterate what Money 9111 has said. Do not bother the adcoms with any personal questions. They are available to answer questions about their school and its MBA programs, the more specific the better, but they do not appre...

I wouldn't go out of my way to get involved in an extra-curricular activity only to sound more interesting on your application. These EC activities are important because they show a desire to help others, to become involved in your community or school, or an interest in things non-academic. They ref...

Sophia007 has nailed it - it's your sales pitch. It is not a highlight of everything and it's certainly not an 'additional resource'. As Bhlavik states, it is the first thing the adcoms look at, so list the chronological essentials and include the activities that call attention to your strengths and...

As has been said many times in these forums, GMAT is not the only factor for deciding whether an applicant is accepted but the averages speak for themselves. I don't doubt that Harvard has accepted people with a very low GMAT but I'm sure it is a rare occurrence. There are many factors that are take...
