Your assumption is wrong. 1900 cars were sold. But nowhere in Stmt 2 does it say that only 1900 were produced. Thanks for ur reply.But statement says that "all the 1900 cars manufactured" Doesnt it restrict the numbers of cars manufactured to 1900. My verbal skills dont help either Karthik

1. The pronoun will refer to the NOUN in the previous clause that is grammatically parallel to that pronoun.

Hi,

Pls help me understand the usage of pronouns in this sentence

"The French handed the informaion to the poles because they believed it is of no use."

I believe that this sentence is incorrect as they can refer wither to the french or the poles.
