monir, I think SCs come down to 2 things: 1) Making sure that you have the rules memorized 2) Spotting when to use them (and noticing the variations) I learned to treat SCs like a big game. If I saw one "part" of a phrase, I'd look for the other. So, if the answers used the words IS/ARE, I...

kelleygrad05, Here are my score breakdowns. Are you looking for anything in particular? At certain points during my studies, I would focus on a particular area of the GMAT and sometimes redo material (from the Empower course or OG, for example) for a week and I usually saw some type of improvement. ...

Hi everyone, Busytrying - with a Q13, I think that you probably need to review some math basics. The Empowergmat course listed a bunch of free links at Khan Academy that can probably help you there. It sounds like the more time you have, the better. My study plan worked for me because I devoted the ...

Busytrying,

Thanks for thanks! If I can do it, anyone can do it. How far along are you in your studies?

Sammy, It's easy to say that I "chose" to dump those questions but the truth is that I was "advised" to dump them and I just followed instructions. It's something I learned in the Empowergmat Course. I think that the number and type of questions to dump varies a little from perso...

Everyone, Thanks for all the kind words; it's a bit overwhelming. I'll try my best to answer all of your questions. Red217 - I used the entire Empowergmat course. A friend of mine had mentioned it to me as a great investment (he got 750 on his GMAT, he's a friend of mine, but he's not someone I'd co...

GMAT Killer: 490 to 770 in 3 months

Hi everyone, When I used to lurk on this site before becoming a member, I liked reading about how people had done well on the GMAT and I’m happy to say that I can add my story to that list of GMAT killers! The Basics: Timeframe: 3 months (late May to late August) Books/Programs Used: OG 13th editi...

Hi, First off, this doesn't appear to be a permutation question (you used the word "arrangement") since you're blending things together (and when you blend things together, it doesn't matter what goes into the mix first). You need to use the combination formula to solve this. There aren't ...

Hi,

Have you taken any practice tests? If so, how have you scored? That information would probably help others to advise on how best to spend your time and money.

Hi, Rather than overthink the 5 schools that you'll list on test day, it might be better for you to figure out which schools best match your career goals and list those. Any additional score reports will cost $28 each (which really isn't a big deal). If you're applying to more than 5 schools, then y...

Hi, To hit your target score, you're going to have to change how your practicing. Your verbal target score will absolutely require a change in perspective. From what I've learned in my course: 1) mental fatigue can be improved with a number of physical and psychological tactics (breakfast, snacks/dr...

Hi,

Unfortunately, I don't think that the GMATPrep software provides any of that info (I've dug around it too and have never found anything either). If someone knows differently, I'd love to know too, but I don't think that the software tracks that info.

Hi Ani, A percentile is essentially "where" you are in line with all test takers. The 90th percentile means that 10% of test takers scored at that level or above. Percentile is different from percent correct and each section of the GMAT (in addition to the overall score) has its own percen...

Hey Raj, I've been studying for the last month and a half with empowergmat. It was slow at first since I had to adjust to gmat tactics and material but I've improved a ton since I started. I hit 680 on my last cat, up from 490 on my first one and I still haven't covered all of the material yet. Know...
