This is quite a tricky question, since 2) is certainly tempting. Still, it's important to read the information provided carefully; we know that with rising prosperity there is "a steadily increasing per capita consumption of meat" in Baurisia. It may be that everyone in Baurisia, rich or ...

Re: Average Speed Concept

At what speed was a car traveling when it had completed half of the distance of a trip? (1) The car was traveling at an average speed of 65 miles per hour. (2) The entire trip was 190 miles long and took 3 hours to complete. To be honest, I don't even understand the question. What's the source? Thi...

"<" denotes angle. CO is the radius of the semi-circle. Since BO is also the radius, we have; AB = CO = BO This means triangles ABO and COB are isosceles triangles, with: <BAO = <BOA = x and <OBC = <OCB From this we can evaluate <ABO = 180 - 2x So, <OBC = 180 - <ABO = 2x, and therefore, <C...

the question is simply asking if the distance between x and y is larger than the distance between x and z. statement 1: y is further away from 0 than z is. we have no info on the position of x with relative to y and z. insufficient. statement 2: x < 0. no info on y and z. insufficient. both statemen...

we have two scenarios here: 1) Don travels for 5 miles at 30mph, and x-5 miles at 60mph. Total time travelled = t1 2) Don travels for x miles at an average of 60 mph. Total time travelled = t2 ((t1 - t2)/t2 )*100 ? Scenario 1: t1 = 5/30 + (x-5)/60 t1 = 10/60 + (x-5)/60 t1 = (x + 5)/60 Scenario 2: t2...

Statement 1: The product of the greatest and smallest of the integers in the list is positive. This means either: - all the integers are positive, or -all the integers are negative if all the integers are negative, the product of all the integers in the list will be positive if there is an even numb...

what is r? Statement 1: The distance between r and 0 is 3 times the distance between m and 0 In absolute terms, this means: |r| = 3|m|, and from this you have the following possibilities: i) r = 3m ii) r = -3m It is evident from here that even if we know m, we cannot solve for r. Insufficient. State...

Statement 2 alone will be sufficient.

we know that q is less than 17. it is given that q=2^k, where k =1, 2, 3, or 4 (k cannot be larger than 4, since this will make q>17).

you will see that regardless of what k is (either 1, 2, 3 or 4), 17/(2^k) will always leave a remainder of 1.

Mohit, I personally feel that the 3rd edition is way better than the earlier editions. The bulk of the increase in pages is due to an extensive list of idioms (with usage examples/explanation, which I found to be very valuable). In all topics, MGMAT has extended and explained the nuances that are ne...

an = an-1 + k, where 2 =< n =<15 and k is a non-zero constant How many of the terms in the sequence are greater than 10? Statement 1: a1 = 24 Since we dont know k, we cannot know how many terms will be greater than 10. for eg. -if k > 0, then all 15 terms will be greater than 10. -if k = -20, then o...

Statement 1: x - y - z > 0 x > y + z If x is greater than the sum of y and z, then surely x will be greater than the difference between y and z (since x, y and z are all positive integers). Sufficient Statement 2: Notice that this is essentially the pythagorean theorem, and from this we can treat x,...

No. of directors = x No. of managers = y x/(x+y) ? Statements 1 and 2 are clearly insufficient on their own. There is no link between the average salaries and the number of managers or directors. Both statements together: Let's say the average salary of ALL employees = z. Using the concept of weight...
