Case b: x = 7.9 and y = 0.1
Here, x² - y² = 62.4
We may say that 62.4 is divisible by 8, but the answer is not an integer, since there is no requirement that either x or y or both be integers
So ans is B. Or am I missing smth?

can't achieve target score on practise test

Hi, maybe simple algebraic method will also help:
Since the triangle is isosceles, its P = 2x + y
since it is right y*y = 2x*x, since all values are positive
x= y / sqr(2) = y*sqr(2)/2
Finally, after substitution we get P = y + y* sqr(2) = 32 + 32*sqr(2)
So, y = 32
