@GMATGuruNY

why we can't do simple percentage without doing LCM. Please let me know.

If we take 100 people in the organization

Women # = 30
Married Man # = 3/8 of 100 = 37.5
Unmarried Man # = 100 - 30 - 37.5 = 32.5

and it becomes clear.

step 1: Look at the options. The smallest one is A) 29 Now can we have two three digit integres whose difference is 3 ? i.e N - M = 29 ? Step 2: what can be last digit of N and M to get a result of 9 ? n can be XY0 and M can be AB1 Step 2 : now can XY - (A(B+ 1 form Carry over) = 2 Step 3 X80 - X51 ...

For 1 the number could be x = 5n + 1 = 5k +3 now depending on value of n these two expression can be odd or even i.e put n = 1 n=2 and so remainder can be 0 or 1. Hence A is Insuff but for 2 the expression 10j +1 will always be odd as 10j is always even hence remainder will always be 1 when divided ...

Hope this one will help. So basically you have to find a number which is of the form number == multiple of 6 +1 == multiple of 5 now multiple of 6 has a pattern when it comes to unit digit 6 2 8 4 0 | 6 2 8 4 0| 6 2 ... the only way you can get a multiple of 5 from this pattern is wen you add 1 to 4...

No stmt 2 is not

let the number be

XYZ where Z !=0

for Z+4 if Z<=5 Y remains as it is i.e Y could be 2 as given
+
if Z>5 tens digit Y becomes Y+1 i.e Y could be 1.
Hence Insufficient.

IMO it is A.

as stmt 1 can only be satisfied when

largest lot has 35 items.

any other way it is not possible.

Stmt 2. smallest one having 10 can lead to multiple situation

i.e 10+20+40

or 10+15+45 etc hence Insuff
