Question about interview process

I just had my first interview at a school where I'm very confident about my chances (My GPA and GMAT are significantly above the average there, as well as a good fit for the "intangibles"). My concern is that the interview was very short (less than 30 mins.). Since I have no other intervie...

Essay Overlap

I'm wondering if each essay is viewed individually, or are they all looked at as one package? To be specific: One school I'm applying to (Boston Univ.) asks about something that makes me unique, as well as another question regarding a defining event in my life. Outside of the business world, my main...

On a related topic: Ask for extra pens. The pen I had for the quant section didn't havd a lot of ink left and was annoying. The proctor was kind enough to give me three pens for the verbal section, so I didn't have to worry about it anymore.

mbawonder wrote:I had the SAME EXACT verbal and quant scores but my gmat was a 700 NO a 710...can anyone explain this discrpeancy?
Interestingly, I scored slightly higher (43Q 44V) but also received a 710. I think that there's many aspects to the scoring algorithm that us mortals will never comprehend...

Somewhat atypical profile--good or bad?

First, I’d like to thank you for this helpful service. With so many questions involved with this process, it’s a great help to have the collective wisdom of forums like this. I’m curious about how the nontraditional aspects of my profile will affect my candidacy for the schools I’m interested. Due t...

710! (Q43 70% V44 97%)

Whew! Finally done. Here’s my story. I started prep in Feb. 2008, basically just reading about the test format, and learning the types of questions asked. I signed up for a prep class at a local college in March, and started studying for real—at least 90 min. per day. The class was helpful thanks to...

The print screen button should be somwehere near the top right of your keyboard. It's not a function of the GMAT Prep. It enables you to take a snapshot of any image on your screen, and save it. (You can paste it to word to make a document, or paint if you want to mark it up) Many of the postings in...

Congrats, that's a score to certainly be proud of. One question: You mentioned that the MGMAT quant isn't representitive of the difficulty of the real thing. How so? Is MGMAT more or less difficult, or is it just constructed differently? (I'm not sure how to explain--some study guides ask questions ...

Good explanation Ian, it took me a while to figure out that that was a question of basic combinations. Sometimes I think this test could ask me what 2+2 is, but ask in such a way that I wouldn't know how to answer it... As for the second question, sometimes it's easier for me to use a formula than a...

Another method would be to assume that the first 20 integers are consecutive 1-20. The sum of consecutive integers is found by multiplying the average by 20. The average is the first integer in the set plus the last divided by 2 (20+1/2=10.5) so the sum is (20*10.5=210). The 21st integer is given as...

Hypotenuse Calculation

Perimiter of an isocoles right triangle is 16+16(sqrt)2. What is the hypotenuse? A. 8 B. 16 C. 4( sqrt)2 D. 8 (sqrt)2 E. 16(sqrt)2 OA is B This was from the GMAT prep CAT, and it's a great example of a question that I thought looked easy, but has me pulling what little hair I have left out trying to...

2^5 + 2^5 is the same as 2^5 * 2. (2^5 is equal to 32, so 2^5+2^5=32+32. That's the same as 32 * 2. ) Essentially you're multiplying 2^5 by 2, which makes it 2^6. (To visualize, (2*2*2*2*2)*2. There's six twos, so 2^6.

Use the same process for 3^5. It's the same as 3^5 * 3, which is 3^6.
