pls tell me what i am doing wrong

here's my doubt: if the descending order in terms of height was represented as 1<2<3<4<5<6 if 4 and 6 have to come together - the only way is if they are arranged in the 3rd and 4th position - which then means 7 must follow having said that - there are only 3 ways to fill the positions in front of 4...

thnks for responding - lok - i figured it out - while calculating - i went into thinking no of numbers between 1 - 1000 containing 3 rather than no of 3's

Hi aiim-wsc,
This is with reference to the 2nd Q - u say 3 appears 300 times btween 1 to 1000 - is it possible that you have double counted some of the numbers between 300 and 399 - Should we not subtract that from the total - pls clarify - i am confused

can 1 of u help me on this - since the q asks for the first 1000 positive integers- does it it not mean 0 to 9999 and hence the number of multiples of 8 should be 124 . shouldn't the probability then be 124 / 1000

I am not sure if Neo's answer is right - according to the exponent rule- (x^y)^z = x^zy

So,
so it should be 2^6 - 2^1= 2^5

Neo, could you elaborate on ho u got ur answer
