Actually the 2007 editions are oout. The principal TPR difference is that Princeton's 2007 book has the tests on their browser. The 2005 edition (as were all previous) of the Kaplan CD was clunky in terms of navigating around. However, as best as I can tell the questions and tests are unchanged. I a...

It is in situations like these that one has to disregard the importance of one question, especially if it happens during the first five questions. To take Mark's point one step further, there's NEVER one question that is worth selling the farm for. In my opinion, it is extremely important to not le...

The early questions are NOT weighted more heavily. The early questions are more important because they are MORE INFLUENTIAL. In other words, how you do on the early questions determines the difficulty of the subsequent questions. Mark's analysis is interesting. However his conclusions are flawed bec...

The only compelling reason I can think of to re-take is if you need to compensate for a weak GPA or weak work experience. A higher GMAT can help there as well. Actually a 740 won't help much versus a 700. (If they don't take you with a 700, they DON'T WANT YOU. A 750 won't help.) A good reason to c...

Even though you saw two standard deviation problems in your GMAT prep, I still would argue that you will not likely see these questions on your actual GMAT. GMAC seems to test understanding WHAT standard deviation is far more than they test your ability to calculate standard deviation. That said, ....

While I think that it's a great idea to re-take GMATprep and PowerPrep multiple times, I think that it's a HUGE MISTAKE to use those tests exclusively. If you do so, you ROB yourself of the essential experience of encountering a test with ALL NEW questions. Repetition of real GMAC questions is very ...

Eric.

The OG is organised by difficulty: easy questions at the beginning; tough ones at the end.

So in the OG's Problem Solving section, #s 1 - 80 are fairly easy. (#60 through #200 - ie the medium difficulty ones - are going to be more representative of what you will contend with on a CAT exam.

800score practice tests are a waste of time!! i haven't used them myself but my buddies tell me that they are total crap. :( Wow .... TWO exclamation points and the curt dismissal of a product that you have no experience with based on someone else's opinion. Well, I've used them with a number of my...

You might want to get the Kpaln book w/ CD as well. If you need to take a LOT of tests, consider: www.800score.com.

Kaplan's tests are probably too tough, while 800score's aree too easy.

Keep working hard.

If you find the discussion in that other thread a bit overwhelming (I do and I wrote most of it), then here's a suggestion. Buy these two books: 1) OG for GMAT QUANTITATIVE REVIEW ($16.95) 2) OG for GMAT Verbal REVIEW ($16.95) There's no overlap between these and the 11th edition. (There's significa...

It is clear to me that my posting on tutoring was unclear. My intention was to promote the idea of hiring a tutor. (As I've been working as a test-prep teacher and tutor for almost 18 years, my belief in the value of tutoring is extremely high. I must share that I was immensely surprised that my mes...

Prior to January of 2006, the download from MBA.com was Powerprep. (If your prior download was BEFORE 2006, then you should download the new software NOW. If you downloaded from mba.com in 2006, then you should download it now. Make sense?) Two soursces for CAT tests that Eric didn't mention: www.80...

Part of the difficulty with this problem is that it is NOT written in a GMAC way. Find the fourth consecutive even number: (I) the sum of the last two numbers is 30 (II) the sum of the first two numbers is 22 There is ambiguity as to whether the set is limited to four terms. Having said that, this p...
