if you've been reaching your target score on practice CATs (and therefore know that you've got your weakness covered to a satisfactory degree) I would just review a few questions from either OG or take a the quant or verbal section of Gmatprep everyday (cept for the day just before) to keep your min...

netigen I understand how you feel. Right after I took the GMAT I felt the same way, that I could/should have done much better. Except for me the regret came from the quant section instead of the verbal :) For me, after a few hours (or was it days...) the feeling passed, as I'm sure it will/has for y...

I'm going to second what beatthegmat said. When I took the GMATprep tests, I felt they were substantially harder than the OG, but that was because I was doing well. The important thing to realize here is that the OG will NOT help you as much as you need if you're already near a raw score of ~48 on q...

Idea for compiling 'beat the gmat' scores

Idea Compile scores (voluntary) of members of this forum from before and after using this forum to give everyone an idea of how much this forum + other resources has helped. This will give everyone a good idea of the value of this forum, and as an added bonus, may also serve to reduce the number of...

The general rules is try to get above a 80% on the quant.

If not, try to have something from the other parts of your app that shows strong analytical skills (i.e. parts of your job, undergrad GPA/courses/major, part time math classes at local university, etc)

I agree with the above post in that it all depends on your background & familiarity with the concepts tested. I was an economics major with a solid math background. Therefore, I didn't need to prepare more than a day for the quant section (though I probably could have scored higher if I spent a ...

the answer in the other thread looked pretty comprehensive to me.
Which part doesn't make sense to you? It helps if you tell us which part you don't understand and then we can help.

from what I've seen, the GMAT questons will provide you with all the needed conversion ratios, like in this problem.

I would consider taking it again if you can. Did you figure out your weak points?
With a good study regiment it shouldn't be hard to raise your score to the high 600s

what is a rtd chart?

I tried searching the forum but only found references to the rtd chart method etc, but no actual explanation of what it is.

(I ask because there are a few people asking questions on this forum about how to solve this or that problem using the rtd method)

btw the simplest and fastest method to solve this is probably to just plug in the number and try each (thats the first thing that came to my mind when reading the question) If you are decent at mental math, it shouldn't take more than 2 secs to eliminate choices a, b, and get to the right answer at ...

the question can be translated into
(n-4) + xn = 10
(where x is some positive integer or 0; and n-4>0=> n>4, since the reminder can't be negative)

n+xn = 14
n(1+x) = 14

n has to be 14, 14/2 = 7, 14/3, etc
also, remember that n>4

so n must be 14 or 7.
