Since Vista screws up just about everything else, that is probably what's causing GMATPrep to malfuction. See if MBA.com has a tech support area or a phone number you can call. I'm sure they've had similar complaints! Maybe there's a patch or something you can install.

Good luck!

Um, what school are you applying to that you can start just a few weeks after taking the GMAT? Usually you apply the fall before you start, not that summer. Or did you get a conditional acceptance and just need to retake?

I think your plan is fine. Your GMATPrep scores will definitely be more accurate, but I don't think there's any harm in the approach you've taken so far. As long as you're carefully reviewing your tests and working on weak areas, you're good.

remarti, if you spend some time browsing the forum, you will see numerous posts in which people discuss retaking the GMATPrep tests. There is a ton of great info on here, and you will get many questions answered before you even ask! :)

There are soooo many practice questions in the three different official guides (11th edition, plus separate verbal and quant books) that you'd be better off doing that than retaking GMATprep again and again just to get a handful of new questions.

Kaplan is not very reflective of the real test, especially in the scoring. Take a GMATPrep test for the best indicator, but to keep from wasting a test, you should really do a good 20-30 practice questions for each type first.

Wingmat is only ever mentioned by people who work for the company. i.e., posters like you who are brand new and making their first or second post. They keep going into different GMAT forums and asking this same question, again and again. And every time, at least one real forum member points out that...

I saw reviews on it in another forum (gmatclub.com), and surprisingly, people HATED it. Major bummer. Would have been nice to have more official materials to work with, but I am going to skip this one.

If you've only relied on Kaplan and the OG, you're going to be in for a surprise on test day. Kaplan's tests do not mimic the real test at all. You MUST take the official GMATPrep tests! And if you want more practice after that, take the Princeton Review tests. They are adaptive like the real thing ...

If you need to raise the score 130 points, I would hold off on retaking, and take a prep course or get a tutor. It's unlikely you're going to get there on your own in less than a month after two scores in the 400s.

Are all of those 500-score tests Kaplan tests? They tend to seriously underestimate your score, so if you've only done Kaplan tests, take a GMATPrep official test (mba.com) or Princeton Review's online test (www.review.com) to get a much better idea of how you're really doing. If you can't crack 600...

Don't just do one test after the other. You need to work on weak areas BETWEEN tests. Review your results from each test, then practice untimed questions for weak areas. Work on test strategy. When you're seeing improvement in those weak areas, take another practice test.

I agree with Ron. You have to do CATs on the computer. Paper tests are not even remotely indicative of what to expect for timing, scoring, etc.

Everything I have ever read about 800score tests in this and another GMAT forum indicated they were among the worst tests out there. Stick with GMATPrep, Princeton Review, maybe Manhattan GMAT, but not 800score.com.
