I will go with "E" Solving 1 - 1/Y + 1/X = 3/(2X) (both taken 2/3 of X time So we will get Y = 2X, which is not an absolute value to answer the question. So insufficient Solving 2 - Y - 2X. As above we dont have an absolute value of both X or Y Hence we cant answer the question on how many...

Hi Sandra,

As both numbers were prime and were dividing the same number, their LCM was teh closest number they both could have divided, esp that they had the same remainder.

This is the reason, LCM will be a good starting point.

Both 11 and 19 are Prime Numbers and hence their LCM = 11*19 = 209 is the closest number which can be looked at here. Now when dividing this number the remainder is 3, so the number being divided i.e. x = 209+3 = 212. So when 212 is divided by 11, the quotent y = 19 and remainder r = 3. So when y = ...

root (.0026) = root(26)/root(10000) = root(26)/100 = ~5/100 = ~.05

It cannot be .06 as that would required the value in question to be root(.0036) or something very close.

Hope this helps.

the answer is C, as from 2 conditions, we can arrive at a common value for x which is 11.

Per the rules, the 2 conditions will not contradict each other and as the unique value of x as 11 satisfies the 2 conditions, we can say that the value of x is 11 and hence the question can be answered.

decline in - its used if there is a reduction, like "the decline in sales"

decline of - its used if there is a fall, like "the decline of Roman Empire"

So I will go with "C"

Thoughts?
